Well I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines day... we did here at the Tomlinson house hold.
Yesterday I had such a great time with my kids and hubby... I got up early and made heart shaped french toast, bacon and eggs ready for my kids before they woke up. Then I also gave them each a valentines card from me with a goody on it. It was something my mom did when I was young and it was fun to see my kids start their day out with a little something special! My kids usually get themselves up and my two youngest eat breakfast at school. The other two always fix their own breakfast usually cold cereal. So this was a fun treat for them.. AND FOR ME! I should get up early more often and make them breakfast! LOL
Then Ben and I spent the day getting ready for our family candle light dinner we had later that night. We decorated the tables with red table cloths, pink plates and accessories. Pink heart confetti, candles, and on each plate was special valentines box and name card for each kid. We decorated the walls with the New Making Memories Wall Valentines Text as well as balloons and streamers! I forgot to take pictures of the decorations and we cleaned up last night! I wish I would have. I didn't take any pictures.. I think we got too involved in the moment and didn't take pictures.. shame on me.
Around 5:30, right before our dinner party I received a wonderful surprise at my door! Flowers! I was thinking how sweet my husband was for sending me this GORGEOUS bouquet of lily's and orchids (MY FAVORITE Flowers).. and opened the card to find that my best friend, Liz.. who lives in Boise, 5 hours away.. had sent them. I had sent out this e-mail, where it has like a list of 40 questions.. and you fill in the blanks and then send it to your friends and have them send their answers back to you. She had read what I wrote about my favorite flowers and sent them to me! I cried.. I miss her so much. Life is hard without her in it everyday of my life.. but this just made my night. THEN I was thinking how Ben would feel bad that he didn't get me flowers, and she did.. and I walked into my bedroom to get dressed for the party and there on my dresser was a bouquet of flowers from him! So sweet. He also got me a facial, a massage and 10 tans from this spa in Shelley. SO DANG SWEET!!
We had alot of fun last night with the kids. We had another family come over with their small kids and they all got a huge kick out of eating dinner by candle light. We bought sparkling cider and let them use our champagne classes (we actually don't drink alcohol, but we have the glasses to use on special occasions like this with sparkling cider). The kids loved it! We had ribs, crab, bacon wrapped shrimp and stuffed mushrooms. Ben pretty much made it all. He is a great cook. He also made my favorite.. BBQ's asparagus! I am not a fan of asparagus.. but when he cooks it on the BBQ.. it's SO yummy. I can eat it all night. AND SO healthy! Basically you just spray them with olive oil cooking spray and put them on the grill with a little seasoning salt and then turn them until cooked. They are so good and so good for you too! I also wanted to post a little table project I made for Ben for Valentines Day. It's to go on his desk..
Well we are headed out of town. Get to go see Ben's family, Liz and some of our other friends too. Can't wait! Hope you all had a great Valentines Day! Going to go head to the gym, since I didn't make it there last night. Have a great day... :)
