Moving day... just around the corner.

Well superman (also known as Ben), has our new house just about move in ready! He is painting today and then tomorrow and Saturday (and Sunday and Monday and Tuesday....) we are moving in! LOL..

Ben's parents have decided to come into town to help, and I couldn't be more grateful! I keep thinking this move should be easy enough since it's just around the corner... and then I look around at all the stuff in our house and begin to feel overwhelmed. I guess moving a family of 8 isn't always so easy! Plus there is the everyday stuff like keeping the house clean, keeping up with the laundry, homework, school activities, football, my work with BHG and MM.. and the launch of Scarlet Lime! CRAZY busy!

I think I thrive on stress and no sleep!

We have been looking for a new table for our family. Right now we have a VERY small table we got at a yard sale for $25 bucks. It's been great for the last 3 years, but our kids are getting bigger now. We use 2 chairs left over from another old table we have and 2 side benches Ben made for all 8 of us to eat at. It's pretty crowded and Noah has to sit on a bar stool chair to be at the table with us. When we have guests over it's uncomfortable too because the benches Ben built are really made for young kids and so it's just TIME for a new table!  Chair I have such hard time paying alot for furniture and everything we find that is big enough is so darn expensive! We want a black square table but one that is normal height. We can find the counter height tables everywhere but not normal size. So Ben decided he is just going to make a table and then we will just find black chairs to buy. I love the criss-cross back chairs, really my style, and i found some at Target 2 for $129.00 but I am having such a hard time thinking about paying $65 bucks for a CHAIR! LOL.. specially when we need 8 of them!  So if any of you have seen some black, normal size chairs, with more of a latter-back or crisscross back design for under $50 bucks each.. (or around there).. let me know! I know.. I am cheap!

Well I am going to walk over and see our new home. I keep saying new.. it's not really "new" it was built in like 1901 or something like that.., but that's why the yard is so amazing! The entire back yard (over an acre) is full of these tress that are at least 50-100 years OLD! I think we counted and there are over 40 trees in the backyard. Amazing! The house itself is smaller than what we are in now, but truly the space and the beauty of the yard, is so worth it.  I would never complain. Old houses have so much character to them. This house needs some minor work and maybe an addition, but I see us living there for a LONG time.

well better get going for the day.. have a fabulous one!

some favorite things...

It's so funny how you can randomly find things you would have never found before if it weren't for blogs! I found sooo many NEW favorite things just be clicking on one blog...who knew!

I love to click on people's names who post on my blog (if they have a link) and go find out more about them! Well I happened to click on a name from the Scarlet Lime blog, Andrea T. And it took me to her blog where I saw that she had an etsy shop! So I clicked on it the link and saw these Babyflowerhatfull DANG STINKING CUTE HATS! man if I had a baby.. I would get the flower one SO fast! SO cute! new favorite! (would be a great gift for someone having a baby!)..

So then I went back to her site and was reading some of her entry's and saw this layout posted with a link! The layout by the way is SO ridiculously cool! Seeklayout_copy Love how she used rubons to create circles behind the photos and THEN used brads in them. SO CUTE! THIS site, where I found THESE adorable flowers Aug2b072b232  and a full "how to" on how to make them! (so cute and reminds me of the Scarlet Lime Debut kit!)

Well then I clicked on the link because she had done the layout as part of a challenge and it took me to

So then I had to go through the ENTIRE site and was just in Awe of the talent these ladies have! I love the idea behind the site (which is called One Little Word by the way). So then I clicked on each of their blogs and loved how different each one was! SO cool! Now each one of them, has become a favorite of mine too!

I love how this all came about by one person posting on a blog! Thanks Andrea for giving me so many yummy things to get inspired by! YOU ROCK!

That's all.. just had to share! :)

wow! thanks...

wow and THANK you to everyone's huge support of the Scarlet Lime Club. Seriously WOW. I posted the winner of the first giveaway today on the Scarlet Lime Blog and you can check it out here!

or by typing in: http://christytomlinson.typepad.com/the_scarlet_lime/

I also posted a tiny sneak peek of what's in store and more info about the kits and waiting list.

These last few days have been a HUGE ride! We closed on our house last Thursday (what a relief) and now we are busy getting the new house ready for us to move in! We are just making some minor changes, redoing the texture on the walls, new paint and a few rooms needed some new carpet. I am amazed at the energy Ben has though! He works all day HERE on our house (just about finished with the basement) and then goes over to our new house at night to work on it. I swear he doesn't sleep! What a great husband he is!

Once the basement is finished HERE then he still has to be build a new front porch on this house, roof the shed and repaint the outside of the house (all before we close on this house next week). He also laid sod last week here in our yard. When we moved in, we pulled out all the yucky spider bushes in front of the house and in back. So there was a lot of places that needed to either be replanted in grass or with bushes/flowers etc. So he got all the sod laid last week and it makes our yard look so much bigger! It's almost sad we are leaving now that we have a finished basement, a nice new yard and soon to be new front porch! But the new house around the corner is just so perfect for us. Lots of space outside and room to add on (since it's actually smaller in size than the house we are living in). But the yard over there just makes the house worth it! I will take pictures later this week. We are going to try and move on Friday and Saturday of this week. CRAZY with all the stuff we both have going on.

Kids started school (they all LOVE it, sit by the front door each morning begging to leave.. weird kids! LOL), Braden started football for the first time in his life (surprisingly he's loving it even though they have 2 hours practices EVERYDAY). Life is getting back to normal from the summer and crazy all at the same time!

Well lots to do today, gotta start packing SOMETIME. Amidst all the excitement of the kit club comes real life! LOL.. I really dislike packing, but I really dislike UNPacking even more. YUK!

Thanks again to everyone who has posted on the Scarlet Lime blog.. seriously..what a wonderful community we HAVE! If you haven't got signed up to win in the daily drawing and the GRAND prize! Better get over there!  Hugs to you all...

August 13, 2007

is it that time again?..

In honor of the excitement for school to start (believe me, it's a pretty mutual feeling among everyone in our house).. I thought I would do a giveaway!

I have some really fun background papers and ledger paper from Making Memories and Scenic Route as well as some other fun stuff that could go along with school like alpha stickers, journaling stickers etc.

It's also getting SOO close..( the big news i mean).. SOO CLOSE! only days until I can spill the beans and share the FUN!!  But seriously so excited... so let's just do a giveaway in honor of school, exciting news and moving!! :) (oh yea? are we moving too? LOL)..

I will pick 3 winners on Tuesday night and announce them on Wednesday! Wednesday we close on our house, Wednesday is the last day of summer before school starts for my kids and WEDNESDAY the "news" will be ready to share!

All you have to do is post on this thread and tell me what your favorite memory about this past summer was.

Mine? All of the little things we did this year, that we didn't get to do last year. .  Last summer I still worked for Chatterbox and I wasn't home alot, plus we made the big move across the state and that took alot of our time. This summer was FULL of lots of little things (swimming at the Park around the corner, movies at the drive in, camping trips, taking the boat out on the lake, making cotton candy, having a lemonade stand, Ross park, sleeping on the trampoline)... so here is to the little things! Those were my favorite memories for this summer.

let's hear yours!

Class kits and more of Brooke's Felt!

Well I am started to feel alot better about this massive project I am working on! It's finally all coming together and now the feeling I have in my stomach is more butterflies (of excitement) than anything!

First off, Brooke has got back in stock the MODBw_flower_2 (black and white) felt pieces in her Etsy Shop  (TatteredTags). I know those sold out so fast, alot of people didn't get them so now is your chance! Here is a picture of them. SHE ALSO has created some NEW felt pieces: some really cute photo corners as well as a really cool boy pack with skulls, wings, and other cool stuff in fun shapes! Gotta check them out!

Also! The Wings of Love Class is now available for purchase! MainpicI love this class. I love the funky kinda retro look of wings right now on my projects, and this tag book is full of it! The kits comes with enough product to create 24 tags. I give you instructions on creating 12 of those. Pics1b_2This kit is NOT pre-cut, which means everything comes in full sheets but there are easy cutting instructions included!  The kit includes lost of fun products and papers from Hambly Screen Prints, Scenic Route, Prima, Autumn Leaves, Making Memories, and more! PLUS it has some exclusive felt products from Brooke's Etsy shop as well as some other cool finds (some vintage wings and trims). You are going to love all the goodies that come in this kit. Here are a couple of pictures I took. These are only of 3 of the finished tags, Lots of layers. Fun fun! Here are the details:

You can purchase the kit here:

Wings of LoVe Class Kit

Well school starts in less than a week! Crazy.. but GOOD. I keep forgetting we CLOSE on our new house next week too. Haven't even started packing, been so busy with this new project! But it's only around the corner right? How bad can that be?

have a great day!

Back to life.... back to reality...

who else feels like laundry NEVER stops? I mean seriously folks... I did 4 loads of laundry yesterday and haven't even began to touch the mounds of clothes I gathered up from the four corners of our house. Laundry is ONE of a few (okay many) things I really don't like to do. I wish all of our clothes magically cleaned themselves!

Luckily my children are at the age, where they have started to do their own. Braden, Allie and Parker, all can load, wash and dry their own clothes and ALL of my kids, including Noah (he only folds the hand towels), can fold and put away their own clothes. We keep trying to get a better system down and it doesn't seem to work.

For the past few years, basically everyone just brings their laundry up and we wash everything in 2 days (okay sometimes more like 7 days). Then after it's all clean, we dump all the clean clothes on the living room floor and everyone helps sort clothes into 7 different laundry baskets. (one for each person and of course Ben and I share). Then each person takes their laundry basket to their room and folds it (or doesn't) and puts it away. (that would be me who doesn't fold their clothes.. bad habit, but it works for me!). Braden and Allie help put away Ethan and Noah's clothes (since they share a room with them) so we are all covered.

But then the kids all started to complain that they didn't want to be sorting each others clothes etc. I said fine, that we would just do it how my mom did it. Each person had their own laundry day and they were responsible for bringing their clothes to the laundry room and if they were old enough (8 and older), they had to wash, dry and then carry their clothes back to their room. If we missed our assigned day, we just had to wait until the next week (keep in mind we had 13 kids in our house, so it was the only sane way to do laundry). So I suggested it to my kids. They all loved the idea, thinking that they would only have to do "their own" laundry and not someone else's. BUT so far it hasn't worked out so good. Most of the boys share a room downstairs and their clothes all get mixed up together in each others laundry baskets. So then when it comes their day, they are still washing each others clothes. PLUS we have just been gone so much this summer, it seems we all need clean clothes on the same day (and can't wait for our "assigned" day).

Anyhow, I am HOPING once we get into our new house and everyone has a place and school starts etc, that our new system will work better. That way everyone will just be washing, drying and folding their own clothes and the "massive sorting" will be gone from the process. I am amazed at my kids and how much they can learn. Preston and Allie are both 7 right now (Allie turns 8 in September) and they both can fold and put their own clothes away. Allie can wash her own clothes too and I am betting Preston could if I taught him. Heck he knows how to load, unload and wash the dishes. I think washing clothes is a lot easier than that!

Well sorry to go off on that subject, just feeling so frustrated with the laundry that we have been doing for the last 2 days.. and still more today! AH!

I wanted to give a HUGE shout out and THANK YOU to Donna Murdock. She is a dear friend that I have met through this blog. She always posts and always sends such nice e-mails. Well a few weeks ago, she happened to be in town visiting her daughter and she brought me some HOMEMADE jams! I am a HUGE sucker for homemade jams. Love them, it's one of my favorite things ever! We have devoured them over the last couple of weeks and they are nearly gone. BUT THANK you Donna! YOU ROCK!

Oh! I was going to tell you a couple of things too! If you haven't tried the Everyday Minerals makeup yet, through Nancy .. YOU MUST! So wonderful. I recently bought a couple of other things from her and AM IN LOVE with them. My new favorite things from that line are the Concealers.

There are two of them I purchased and really really love. One is called Sunlight and it's for under eye areas, getting rid of the circles and dark blueish spots. LOVE IT! (you only need just a tiny bit and apply it with round or flat brush). The second one, I was really really impressed by, was called "pick me up pink". It gives "dull" skin a bright, youthful and porcelain look to it! You apply your foundation over it, but OH MY GOODNESS! I LOVE IT! I loved it even without the foundation, but if you want a really clean, even coverage and just a really bright, youthful look.. GET THIS! it works. These concealers are BOTH in powder form and just go on so light! You don't even know you are wearing them!

I also got a couple of more eye shadows.Alot actually (Nancy sent me some to try) and there were two am just in love with! They have a lot of shimmer to them, but go on so smooth and just "radiant". They are sunset voyage, and "comfy". I can't find Comfy on their website, but Nancy sent it to me, and LOVE that color. Sunset goes on so pretty and almost a sheer peachy/nude/bronze?? . But it's just so pretty! The "comfy" is a shimmering dark golden brown and is SO beautiful on. E-mail Nancy about that one! Anyhow.. have to get those four things to add to your collections. I can ONLY image how pretty those two eye shadows look with blue eyes (they compliment my hazel eyes, but with blue eyes, I bet they would just POP!).

Well better go! I am working HARD on getting this new surprise ready and I have to admit it has been pretty nerve racking. I have NEVER been so nervous about anything in my scrapbooking career! SERIOUSLY, I haven't been able to sleep at night and will be SO glad when it's finally done! LOL.. So excited.. but so nervous.. (see getting sick to my stomach again)...

oh! and the "wings of love" class will be ready to ship in a few weeks (still waiting on some products from Canada), but I will be posting that class this week! So look for it! If you sent me an e-mail about wanting to be on the waiting list.. I will send you an e-mail before i post here, with all the details of how to get it! Thanks for everyone's continued support with my classes.. you all rock. Seriously.
