it's spud harvest.. yipee!! :)

Actually normally I really do love spud harvest.. (when they let the kids and teachers out grades k-12 to help harvest the spuds.. (yes in Idaho we grown potatoes! :))

But of course.. MY Kids are too young to work in the spuds..  so that usually makes it it's a great opportunity to go on vacation! We have  2 full weeks off..  so alot of people we know go to Disney land.. etc.. because it's still pretty warm, but no crowds because everyone else is in school. But alas.. we aren't going to Disney Land.. (just can't justify the cost yet..)

and we haven't been able to do any other kind of vacation either because of Braden's football (the won this week! 40-0.. only 2 more games to go until playoffs).. and Ben has jobs he is finishing up and of course with his Tomlinson Construction business (his new home building and remodeling job)..

I have been busy Scarlet Lime..  and this is the busy time of the month for me .. getting the website ready to launch for the 1st, getting product in and sorted.. kitting.. crazy..

which means my other 5 kids are running around bored (because most of their friends are on vacation)!

Luckily the weather has been SO nice.. in the 70S this week.. so they aren't cooped up in the house. But still we want to do something.. so hopefully next Thursdays, after Braden's game.. we will head out somewhere and take our camp trailer out and go camping or something.. Something low key, low cost but fun.

anyhow.. that's an update on our family! Crazy as ever!! how is YOUR week going?

Crazy Weekend..

Well last weekend was crazy.. ended up going on a last minute teaching event.. to a retreat in Island park! I thought it was next weekend.. but turns out it was actually last weekend!

I had lots of fun though! I taught the wings of love class (shown at right).. Wg_main_2  The ladies up there were so much fun! We had classes one day and the other day was all cropping! Retreat05w  Here are a few pictures Robin took of me teaching.Retreat03w  Robin and Heather were the fabulous ladies who put on the retreat and they did a wonderful job! The food was delicious and i actually got some Scrapbooking done!

I don't find lots of free time to scrapbook for myself.. so when I do actually have time.. I don't know what to do! LOL..

so I decided to make a file folder album for my daughter who just turned eight. She is getting baptized Alliebook1_2  in a few weeks and I wanted to let her know how Allie4  proud Allie5 I am of her..

I made this for her.. just to keep in her room.. Allie6or maybe    perhaps she will keep it in her "box" of stuff. I haven't finished the journaling yet.. but wanted some private time Allie7  to think about it..

Preston was sad I was leaving.. and is my sensitive one right now. Prestonbook1_2  He always feels left out and seems to be pretty emotional. I decided to create a little mini book just for him too! My good friend Susi sent me this chipboard star book.. so I made him something little that told him what I loved about him and what his talents are. I gave it to him Sunday morning right before church and he took it to church and carried it around the rest of the day! It's got pretty hashed at church.. he's only 7.. but I did make it for him.. right? He really enjoyed it and hasn't stopped talking about it..

Anyhow! we had lots of fun.. glad to be home though.. missed my family and kids!

check out the scarlet lime blog for updates on our newsletter! :)

Hugs to you all!

got it done!!

finally got caught up on ALL of the laundry! I seriously can't believe how good it feels to have it all done. I did about 8 loads today and then tonight Ben and I sorted all the clothes into baskets. In the morning before school, my kids will take their baskets to their rooms and fold (or not fold) and put away their clothes.. to each his own! LOL

Life is finally starting to take a nice pace.. working here and there during the day.. doing some house cleaning in between. Homework, practices, dinner in the evening and then just relaxing time near bedtime, after scriptures and prayers.

I am such a night owl that I really have nothing better to do right now, but to sleep.. and yet I find myself watching mindless TV and surfing the net.. catching up on everyone's blogs, reading up on family life and finding fun things on etsy (not for me personally but for the SL kits!).

Great site for people to share their talents and their crafts!

Tomorrow night I am hosting a chat at the Creative Shack! Make sure you stop by and say hello!

Kinda feeling sad I am not attending Memory Trends and missing out on seeing all the cool new products there.. but we had so much going on this month.. plus this week my son has another FB game and also we are hosting a dinner at our house for our church on Thursday night.. a BBQ.. it's nice that our weather just turned bitterly cold! LOL.. should make for an interesting evening!

Did I mention that Ethan started pre-school last week? We haven't really done pre-school with most of our kids.. but just felt like he might enjoy it.. more for the social aspect than anything. Ethan I took these pictures of him on his first day of school and in true Ethan style.. Ethan_feet he didn't have shoes on when we were getting ready to leave. He doesn't usually wear shoes.. I mean not even to the store. SO I had to snap a few pictures of him, just being him.

Oh! and crazy news from the Scarlet Lime. We have sold out of all the October main kits! Crazy.. but we will have a couple of add-on kits for October as well.. so make sure you check back on the site on the 1st. :)

I also have been stalking the downeast website..  Shirtdress_2235l love their new clothes for fall and this particular dress.. Love all their new shirts too.Love this one called Elizabeth  Eliztop_0750l (oh now I miss Liz).. but I am not about to pay $20 bucks for a shirt! I am so cheap.. well I like to call it frugal.. we have six kids.. we make due right?

There is actually a store in Idaho Falls that actually sells the downeast clothing.. but at like 30% off retail.. so this dress would be only $23.00 instead of $29.00.. and I so want this dress. I think on my short frame it would actually look okay!

hum.. I guess I will just have to wait for the local store to get the fall stuff in..

well now I am starting to feel tired.. I guess I better hit the sack.. and actually feeling so tired I am not even going to proofread my post! LOL

have a fabulous night..

where is christy???

Geez I start a kit club and my personal blog suffers.. sorry about that! I know my family is always looking for updates on our family!

Well my casserole turned out.. but my kids hated it! LOL!!  My husband loved it though.. and so the two of us enjoyed it and then had it for left overs for like 3 days in a row, while our kids ate their usual..  like chicken nuggets! :)

Life has been crazy around here.. getting those Scarlet Lime kits out last week and this week.. holy cow.. luckily our garage was empty so we had a place to do most of our work. I have also had some other assignments going on from MM and BHG and still needing to in finish up one of them.. and feeling so bad that I am behind. I think with the move, the new kit club and school starting.. life just caught up with me and I haven't had two second to breath.

We just planned (Ben and I) a weekend getaway to our best friend's house in October. Nothing fancy.. they only live in Boise.. (which is only 4 hours away).. but we just needed some time to ourselves and we missed our friends terribly. Plus it's a great "cheap vacation! and I love seeing Liz.. she is pregnant and feeling kinda down these days.. and I feel like i need to go see her and cheer her up!

Braden had another football game tonight and they won! 48-18.. I have to say I am a little surprised at how well his team is playing! I mean they split the 6th grade team this year, in Shelley, because for a small town it was just getting to big. So there are two teams, which meant splitting up the "good" players evenly. This is Braden's first year, so we were just excited for him to play once in a while, but the teams are now so small (like 15 on each team).. that everyone pretty much plays the entire game! I think it's actually better for all the boys, because it's giving them all more playing time and so they are all progressing and getting better. Both of the teams are winning their games (they don't play each other unless they make it into the playoffs).. and so it's fun to feel the camaraderie for both teams.. and to see the kids attend each others games.. they are all such good friends.

Well what else is going on? Allie turned 8 on Monday and will be baptized next month on the 13th! She is really excited and talks about it all the time. She is such a great girl.. we butt heads alot.. but she has sure changed this school year as far as her "whining" sessions. She has been hanging out with some of the older girls in our neighborhood and one girl in particular who is very laid back and not your normal emotional "pre-teen".. and I think some of it is rubbing off on Allie. She is just starting to get past that phase.

Well it's late and I have a few assignments for BHG to finish up in the morning! Loving the "new" "old" house.. love old houses.. specially love the claw-foot tub that I soak in just about every night at midnight.. to give me the energy to stay up another few hours!... need to learn to go to bed earlier..

I just got my BHG mag in the mail this week too! Christytomlinson_gadgetgirl_cropa_2 and it features my brand new column with Erica Hernandez.. called Gadget Girls! We take a look at different tools and Christytomlinson_gadgetgirl_upclose gadgets each month and test them and give our opinions on them.  This month was the crop-a-dile and I LOVED it.. my first time using it! Here is the layout I did with it. Check out the full report in this month's issue!

well night all!
Hugs!

What I love...

Okay I know I know.. I talk about Makeup alot on my blog, and it's not because I can't live without it (because truly most days I don't even put it on).. but I had to share this.

I know most of you know that I have recently started using everyday minerals makeup. LOVE this makeup and couldn't be happier with it. It's mineral makeup, so it's all in powder form, but it's so inexpensive! Truly it is. Anyhow, Nancy, the makeup artist who did my makeup for the video shoot at Better Homes and Gardens, sent me some empty make-up jars, a while back.  Well this past weekend I noticed that since I hadn't spent much time in the sun in the past few weeks, my face is obviously starting to get lighter in color and more pale. (Love the Pick me up Pink by the way.. just gives you a fresh face look)..

anyhow, I noticed my foundation was just a tad on the dark side and so wanted to experiment a little. Since all the makeup is in powder form, I used one of the empty makeup jars and mixed 2/3 of my foundation with 1/3 of my multi-tasking concealer (which is pretty light). I mixed it together with the end of a makeup brush and then added a little more foundation until the color was just right! I got so excited about the whole mixing thing, that i decided to try it with my blush and eye shadows too.

MY FAVORITE blush, Chit Chat, got left in our Camp trailer, which is in storage.. so I decided to try and mix something of my own. I used the Sunday Brunch blush and mixed it half and half with the B&B blush and then mixed in just a pinch of the floating feather eyeshadow  (it's white and has a really great shimmer too it). I LOVE the color it produced!!!  It's light and is perfect for every day wear!

I just love the fact that I can MIX my own shades with the everyday minerals.. makes me want to buy a bunch more empty jars (Nancy sells them and so does the website). I want to try mixing some of my eye shadows too..

anyhow.. that's what I love.. I love being able to mix the stuff together to get what I need instead of having to buy a completely different shade or color.. this makeup truly is great! Seriously if you are looking for a change, want to try mineral makeup and don't want to spend a lot of money, you have TO TRY IT! You can purchase it directly from their site, or from my make-up artist friend, Nancy, who will actually give you a one on one consultation AND gives free shipping! she rocks!

Well in other news.. my house is starting to feel like a home. I think people who really know me, would be so proud to know that I have baked!! and it finally turned out!!! (I am not a good baker.. seriously.. remind me some time to tell you about the brownies I tried to make from the BOX, that didn't turn out (forgot the eggs.. or the time I made homemade chocolate chip cookies and I thought 1c of butter meant 1 cup of butter not one cube.. yea.. well sometime my hands work faster than my brain! LOL)..

anyhow.. I baked this past weekend and week. I made a strusell cake in a bunt pan, that DIDN'T turn out.. but we ate it anyway.. but then I made cupcakes and those did! Then on Monday I made blueberry muffins, cupcakes again yesterday and lemon poppyseed muffins this morning and ALL of them turned out! I am getting pretty good at this cake/muffin in a box thing.. think I have figured it out (always remember to spray the pan FIRST and make sure you added all the ingredients).

and tonight I am making a casserole. I am nervous because normally I have VERY bad luck with these types of things (one time I made a casserole dish from a recipe book, for our neighbors who had just had a baby.. I made one for us too, and after I took their's over, we sat down to eat ours and I about chocked it was so disgusting! MY husband just looked at me as he spit his out and said " call the neighbors quick!!!" (Too bad they had already started eating and wondered why I was trying to kill them! ) We ended up ordering pizza for both them and us and later my husband said he saw the neighbors had put the casserole dish outside for the cats to eat it and even the cats wouldn't touch it!  (well we can't be good at everything!)..

So I tend just to stay away from anything fancy in the kitchen.. we eat alot of Totina's pizza's, chicken nuggets and mac and cheese at our house.

But I think this house has a "good omen" to it.. granted the first night I cooked dinner here it was terrible! I burned the french toast, undercooked the bacon (so I put it in the microwave to cook it a little more and accidentally nuked it) and the eggs were burned too. The ice maker wasn't working yet so the orange juice was warm and we all just looked at each other like.. well at least it's a "real" meal!

at first I thought this kitchen had a hex on me, because when I was unpacking and putting stuff away , I was cursing the kitchen over and over at how small it was and I kept saying to my friend "i hate this kitchen... have I told you how much i hate this kitchen?"  I felt bad after we got it all put away and actually everything DID fit and i had room to spare.. I had to apologize over and over to the poor kitchen.

well with the dinner and the cake I thought at first I was totally hexed.... but the last 2 days I have found the kitchen is really starting to warm up to me and forgive me for being so rude and quick to judge! I even made the best pancakes ever this morning for Ethan and Noah! (it helps to also actually follow the pancake directions for adding water versus mix)..

anyhow.. this has turned out to be a LONG post! Sorry for that!

oh! and we had 3 winners on the Scarlet Lime blog from our newsletter.. PLUS i just had to share with the blog readers, a few of my favorite kit sites and clubs out there right now.. so check it out..

have a great day and happy baking to all! if you have any great recipes to share I would LOVE to have them! Stuff kids would like :)

anyhow..

Getting settled...

Wow.. I think you forget how much work it really is to move. I have to give a huge shout out to Ben's mom and dad, Ann and Dave for coming and helping us move! SERIOUSLY!! I really under-estimated how much time it would take to move and totally under-estimated how much time it would take to get Scarlet Lime off and running! I did most of the web myself, including the shopping cart, pictures, etc. and it was a ton of work!  We moved Saturday-Tuesday of last week and Monday and Tuesday I was so busy getting ready for the debut of Scarlet Lime, that Ben's parents literally packed up EVERYTHING in our house and loaded it and moved it to our new house. Then they came here and unpacked alot of it here too! PLUS they did all of our laundry, folded it and brought it to our new house and put it away. WOW.. I think I owe them my life! I truly hope they realize what a HUGE blessing they were to have here. I know Ben appreciated it too, because he was busy finishing our house (the one we were moving out of) so we could close on it on Wednesday. . Wow.. what a week. I haven't seen Ben that tired in a long time.

But thank you again, mom and dad! And thanks to all of my parents and sibling and friends who helped! Either by watching kids or bringing us dinner or helping us move.. .. such great people!

So back to life and reality this week. Just finishing up my Scrap-a-faire class for BHG this morning! (scroll down at the bottom and you will see my class). If you attended the last Scrap-a-faire, you know how fun it was.. and THIS time is going to even be better! Holy cow! Such great classes this time!!! I am excited to take some.. The registration is going on now, but it start in November.. you can check it out here...

Also finishing up a couple of articles for BHG this week. Too fun! PLUS kitting and shipping out all the Scarlet Lime kits! Our policy is to have them all shipped out between the 5th-10th of each month, but I hope to have them all out by Friday of this week. That is my goal! :)

We are trying to figure out WHERE in the world in our house we are going to kit everything. We literally have no dining room, so that isn't really an option. (by the way we opted to NOT to get a new table and chairs right now.. we were going to put them into part of the space in the living room, but decided we don't want to combine the living room with the dining room and so right now our small table is up against a wall in a hallway between the garage and the kitchen and THAT is where we are eating).. so anyhow.. Ben (who is going to kit most of the TSL's kits), is going to come up with a game plan.. he is always great about that.

Braden had his FIRST football game last week! He did so good and it was so fun to watch! This is our first experience with a child in a competitive sport... Our kids played Jazz basketball last year, but they don't keep score in Jazz BB and there really isn't a "play off" or a winner at the end of the year. This is our very first "real" experience in the "sports" world.. and it was so fun! They lost the game, but the kids had such a good attitude about it! They scored three touchdowns and so it was exciting and fun to watch. The other team just had a few more experienced players on their team and beat them by a touchdown.. but that's okay! you can't win it all right?

so fun though.. can't wait for this week's game!

Well I updated the Scarlet Lime Blog, some info about the Newsletter on there and some NEW options for international shipping (to try and cut down the cost). So check it out!

well have a fabulous day!
