Lots to do and Scrap-a-Faire this week!!

okay first off.. I couldn't stand it any longer.. and I found both of the books in the sequel to the Twilight book I mentioned last week: New Moon and Eclipse.. I read one Friday night and the other Saturday night and I have to say.. I LOVED the second book and by the end of the Third book, I was so mad at Belle (the main character).. that I had to seriously just take deep breaths to get over it! LOL.. Seriously..

Anyone else feel that way?? I mean WHAT WAS SHE THINKING??? i won't say more than that.. for those of you that haven't read the books.. and now I found out (per THIS website ) that the next sequel isn't due out until Fall of NEXT year! AHH! I don't think I can wait that long.. BUT I also found out on her website, they are making a movie about it.. so can't wait for that.. I will be there at the midnight showing if they have one!

Scrap-a-faire is this week and registration is STILL open.. this is the coolest thing ever.. if you  haven't heard about it.. it's an online event with Scrapbooking classes, shops, chats, giveaways.. etc put on my the magazine I work for, Scrapbooks Etc.,  Better Homes and Gardens.  I am acutally teaching 2 classes on there, but there are also a TON of fun things to choose from. YOU HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT! It starts friday.. and it goes for 2 weeks.. make sure you at least come by for the chats.. those are always fun.. so that is going on this week..

Well  since Halloween is this week, our kids have spent the weekend figure out what they wanted to be. We don't usually buy costumes from the store.. unless we know our kids will wear them for a few year... for instance.. Parker has worn the same Sponge Bob Costume for 4 years now.. and Ethan.. spider man for the last two.. Preston, Batman for the last two.. etc. Usually the other stuff we find is either at the dollar store or second hand stores..and sometimes we will just find costume's in our house where we aren't sure they came from!

But this year Parker has decide he does NOT want to be sponge bob again.. we were kinda shocked until we realized what he wanted to be.. a TRANSFORMER! LOL.. He loves both transformers and Sponge Bob just the same.. (and has FOR YEARS) and since the new movie has come out.. now there are "cool" costumes you can buy.. so we told him if he pays for half of it.. we will get it for him and ONLY if he wears it for the next 3 years.. he got so excited I think it made his week! Plus the sponge bob costume is now a little small! LOL..That kid is getting HUGE!

So we are off to find him a transformer costume.. since there is no time to order something from the web.. everyone else is just using stuff they did last year.. except Allie, who found a witch costume at a second hand store for $3.00 a couple of months ago.. it's actually pretty cute. It's handmade.. so it's pretty fancy.. and an actual dress, not just a plastic thing you buy at wall-mart.. kinda cool!
Braden wants to be a toilet.. don't ask me why or where he got that idea.. it's his age. He is almost too old to go trick or treating anyway, but he's good to have around to help take kids around.. so we let him go. Noah is going as a Pirate.. since our kids got a bunch of pirate stuff from a parade they were in this past September.   IN the past, Ben has always dressed up.. and I mean GONE ALL OUT.. with his costumes.. but that was back when we use to throw parties every year.. last year.. neither of us did.. maybe we will this year..

who knows!  I would be content to just buy one of those shirts from Old Navy.. the $5.00 ones that have  pumpkin or a cat on them or something.. and wear it.. :) Maybe I will get one tomorrow.

Tomorrow I have plans to pretty much just do nothing all day but relax. It's my 32nd birthday and I have only ONE rule about birthday.. well actually a few..

Edited to add: oops! I am NOT going to be 32.. I am going to be 33.. I wish it was 32!!

Do what you want, eat what you want, and buy what you want..

I usually follow all of the rules except the third one.. can't spend money you don't have! LOL

but this year i AM doing what I want. IN the morning I am going to the LDS Idaho Falls Temple with a friend.. that is early in the AM, then our church is quilting some blankets for babies in third world countries at 10:00 that i hope to make it to.. lunch with my mom around noon and then a little shopping, then I had an old gift certificate for a massage I am using before it expires.. then dinner at home with our kids, then Ben and I are going to a haunted house with all the youth in our Church.. then hopefully after that, he and I will get away for a "date" with just the two of us afterwords.. If not, a couple of our friends are going to come over and watch a movie with us.... a late one.

So that's going to be my day.. I would actually love to sleep in.. but really really wanted to go to the Temple on my birthday.. and the early am seemed like the best time.. so I can't wait.

We are also kitting everything for the Scarlet Lime website this week.. or starting too.. that's my other goal for this week.. I want to get those kits out early so I can get my classes ready for My Canada trip!

now i need to find 2 other books to read on my Canada trip! I kinda wish i hadn't read both of the sequels to Twilight, so I could read them on the plane ride.. but oh well... off to the library tomorrow I guess as well! Anyone got any good suggestions? I really like stories about other countries.. specially about China.. books like "The good earth" or Wild Swans. I also enjoyed Memoirs of a Geisha too. I recently read the Kite Runner and the sequel to that one (did i tell you this already?).. it's is fictional but helps give me a better insight to life in the middle east. Crazy I tell you! I also love a good romance book.. like the the Notebook and now Twilight.. Good clean one..but ones that still give you the butterflies and make you cry..  so if you have any recommendations.. PLEASE tell me! I am in desperate need for about 2-3 books to read on the plane.. :)

Have a great week everyone..

happy Halloween!

Ben and I just got back from a  very fun and very relaxing weekend. We went to Boise and hung out with our best friends, Liz and Kevin Amar. They bought a cabin last year up in Garden Valley and have been working hard all year long to remodel it. The cabin is gorgeous and they are doing a wonderful job with it!  It was just the four of us.. no kids and so we spent seriously the entire weekend lounging around in our pj's, watching movies, playing games and reading books. I Think this was the first time in forever that I can remember playing monopoly and I have to say.. I don't like it! LOL.. I mean I liked it when I owned all 4 railroads and they were having to pay me a ton of money every-time they landed on them, but then they all started building hotels on their proprieties and all my money went down the drain really fast! LOL.. not sure how much I truly like that game..

On the other hand, I read an entire book on Saturday.. I started around 12:30 and finished it around 8:00 or so.. IT was a book that a dear friend told me about MONTHS ago.. called Twilight. Twilight  It's a book about vampires and when I first heard about it.. I was SOO Not interested. NOT AT ALL!!

I am more into books that talk about real life stuff.. not always nonfiction, but books that tell a story but also help tell history too. Like the Kite Runner or Wild Swans. SO this book didn't seem to appealing to me. But I rented it from my local library and had to wait almost 2 months to get it!! (people around here are obsessed with it). So then I had it for about 3 weeks and decided this weekend to finally read it. OH MY GOODNESS!! I could NOT put it down! Poor Liz kept trying to talk me into watching a movie with her and I just couldn't! When I read a book, I have to read it from start to finish.. and this book was SOO good!  There are two other sequels already out and I am dying to get my hands on the next one.
I have to find a day where I can just sit and read all day. I am leaving for Canada in a few weeks to teach at this fun event called Scrap Gala www.scrapgala.com, and will just take it on the plane with me and read all day (the entire flight is about 13 hours of travel) so it should be perfect!!

Anyhow.. good book.. really should check it out!
Well that's all for now.. have a great week!

Some cool things going on...

I  know last week I mentioned some a few things going on in our industry..

a couple of them are fundraisers!

one of them hasn't posted yet, but here are the details on the other one..

This is an even that my dear friend, Melody Ross is going to be teaching it. It's a fundraiser for a GREAT cause and something you won't want to miss! You can read all about it here, but it's going to be in the Boise Valley, (in Idaho) November 10th! This is sure to be tons of fun and all proceeds go to a special cause! So check it out! This is going to BE SO FUN!!!! I wish I could go... but will be out of town that weekend...

Another cool thing happening.. this isn't a fundraiser, but if you live in Utah or Idaho and are looking for a weekend getaway.. a friend of mine, Barb.. is hosting a scrapbooking retreat in a beautiful cabin in Malad, Idaho. Malad is just 90 minutes from Idaho falls, and about the same from Salt Lake City, Utah. Unfortunately I can't be there, because I will be in Canada, teaching at an event, but I am SURE it's going to be fun! Here is more info on it that she sent me. She doesn't have a website, so I thought I would post it here!

Here we are coming closer to another fun-filled fall scrapbook retreat held in Malad Idaho at an incredible cabin with all the comforts of home!  Join us for a weekend of fun, relaxation, scrapping, and chatting with wonderful scrappers and friends.

Complete cost is $77.00 per person. This includes your lodging, food, and lots of fun!  So come join us for the weekend of November 15, 16 and 17th!  The fun will start at 2:00 PM on the Thursday Nov. 15th and end around 5:00 PM Saturday Nov. 17th.

Sign ups start now so email me for payment options and any other questions you may have!  Space is limited to 18 people and some spots are already taken, so sign up now for your spot.

Contact Barbi Eakin at eakinchick@comcast.net for details or call me at 801-572-5589 or cell 891-5589

Too fun! Both of these events look like a lot of fun. There are two other fundraisers I want to tell you about, but I will do those next week when I have more details! :)

Lots of good stuff going on.

Well Ben and I are heading out of town... TODAY!! oh goodness, just for relaxation and fun. Nothing fancy or big.. just heading to our friend's cabin over in Boise.. but can't wait! Much needed alone time with all the crazy things going on latley.. speaking of crazy..

Allie's baptism was AMAZING! So wonderful.. she is just such a sweet daughter with a HUGE heart. Love her so much and so proud of her! I will post pictures of that even later next week. Thanks to all the family who came for it and friends. It was fun to have them here. I was still under the weather and spent alot of time in bed, but it was still good to have them here.

Well if you haven't checked out the Scarlet Lime Blog yet.. YOU SHOULD! I have some BIG NEWS over there! OH! so excited..

well have a fabulous weekend~ Hugs!!

Life!!

So this weekend Allie is getting baptized and she is SO excited.

She has been talking about this for over a month now and all of our family are coming into town to be there and support her. Can't wait!

Lots of other things going on.. Braden had his last game... Wednesday night... I didn't get to go.. I was too sick..  The won! but they didn't make it into the playoffs... but he had so much fun this year.. (his first year) and I think next year he might do it again..

He actually got the run the ball in his his game LAST week and he scored the extra point! (they won that game 21-0). He normally plays on defense as a linebacker or some sort of blocker?? but after running the ball into the end zone.. he said next year he want to try out for running back! He is so tall and skinny.. I think he would do better as a running back versus a linebacker! LOL... not too much meat on him to help him block those big boys staring back at him..

Just finishing up a cool assignment for BHG for my column.. the Gadget girl column.. LOVE LOVE LOVE the gadget we used for this issue.. LOVE IT! can't wait to share it with you..

also finishing up fun assignment for MM this next week. Can't spill the beans on it yet.. but will when I can!

There are a couple of fund-raisers coming up that I wanted to share with you.. but I don't have all of the details yet.. so tomorrow I hope to post info about both of them! Some special people.. needing some special help.. love that our "community" is always so willing to help others out.

Well sorry I have been MIA.. been busy with kits from the Scarlet Lime and just being sick! I am going to the doctor tomorrow.. (don't have time today).. but seriously need some antibiotics or something..

Here is a couple of layouts I did for MM's  Christmas line.. and Noteworthy line.. that I wanted to share with you! I can't remember if I have.. so I apologize if I did already! LOL..

congrats ladies!!
Send me an e-mail with your addy and I will get some fun celebration goodies your way..

well tonight we are going to the local HS football game. We live in such a tiny community that it's fun to get involved in the High School sports, even if we don't have kids in high school yet. My husband works in the Young Men's in our Ward/church and so we know alot of the boys on the team. It's senior night and that means free baked potatoes with all the the trimmings! It's their last home game, so it's tradition. They are undefeated right now and only have 2 more games to play until playoffs. While I was never into sports in school.. I really enjoy watching football.. specially when there are people I know playing. We went to a game a few weeks ago and at the end of the game.. we were getting up to leave and everyone around us was like.. wait! you can't leave yet! It wasn't a home game.. so I wasn't sure what we were supposed to stick around for.. but I guess at the end of each game.. our football team walks over to the stands and serenades the people in the stands.. OUR TEAM.. each game.. I guess it's a traditional they have been doing for years and it was kinda cool and sentimental to watch a bunch of 16 and 17 year old boys,  singing to you from the field. TOo cool. Brings alot of school spirit and unitism to the crowd too. I am sure the other team was like WHAT?? specially since it was on their Field.. but it was cool

Spent the day frantically preparing for November kits.. getting the "big surprise" ready.. it's seriously so cool and so fun for me. I just hope it all works out!

Well have a great weekend!

only in shelley...

Well I guess in other places too.. but I have to tell you a funny story.. My last post was about how my kids were home for spud harvest for 2 weeks and how even though we weren't taking a trip anywhere, we were lucky enough the weather was still nice out. Well I actually posted that in the late evening on Friday and then Saturday morning we woke up to this...Ethansnow

ONLY in Idaho does it SNOW In September! LOL.. it snowed ALL DAY LONG and the kids even built a snowman.. then Sunday came, the sun was shining and warm days again.. so weird.. but fun for my kids! We are going to head out camping on Friday after we get all the Scarlet Lime kits packed and shipped! (that is our goal anyway) Hopefully it doesn't snow on us though!

The October kits for Scarlet Lime debut yesterday.. The main kit is sold out but we still have 3 kits of the Guest Artist Favorites and 6 of the Crush add-on kit.. oh these kits are fun..

Well sorry for the lack in posts lately! Between BHG assignments, MM assignments, the Scarlet Lime and kids being home.. I haven't found much free time. But hopefully in October things will slow down!

I also wanted to post that General Conference is this weekend! Twice a year our Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.. also known as "Mormons").. holds a massive televised/radio conference where all members of the church and non members (it's really for anyone).. where we  get to listen and be uplifted from the General Authorities and Prophet of the Church. Always love conference weekend because the talks are so inspiring, so what I need to hear to help me be a better mom, a better friend.. a better me. I also always leave the weekend feeling truly loved by my Father in Heaven. Such good stuff.

Well I hope you all have a great week.! I hope to post some more this week though! Have a great day!
