okay, so I admit it.. I am a TERRIBLE blogger.. and I would think about getting rid of it all together, except for the fact, i KNOW I should blog, even if it's just for purely the fact that I need a journal of whats happening in my life! I love reading other people's blogs, love seeing what's going on their lives. I wish I was better about document my own!
Summer Break is here though and so that means lots of fun things planned, camping trips, boating, bbq's, movies outside on the lawn, family reunions.. LOVE summer.. I USE to think it's my favorite part of the year.. until this past spring when I took up snowboarding. NOW I can't WAIT for winter again.. I think i have finally found something that will help me deal with the 9 months of winter we have here in Eastern Idaho. I just wish I would have taken it up a bit sooner!
I have also found a new passion for Jewelry Making and sewing bags. My good friend Gretchen.. has been very patient teaching me how to properly sew.. (pining, ironing, etc) and the great thing about it.. is that when I am done with a bag or a purse, I look at it and think.. WOW! I made that.. it looks pretty professional! Now I just need to learn how to properly insert a zipper. always something!
I went to Brave Girls Camp this past spring.. probably the single most important thing I have EVER done for myself. Hands down, the most meaningful, soul searching, soul HEALING retreat/event.. i have ever been to and I love the fact it is all centered around ART! I am a brave girl activist. I tell everyone I know about it. I am going back in October, to volunteer as one of the staff. I believe it in so much!! Here are just a few pictures of my experience there.. the food, the staff, the art projects.. the friends.. It was amazing.. absolutely amazing... you have to check it out.. www.bravegirlsclub.com
we were lucky enough to just get back from a Caribbean Cruise with a bunch of friends in our ward/neighborhood. So much fun.. So warm! Loved all the excursion we did. Snorkeling in Grand Cayman, hiking Dunn River Falls in Jamaica (also on the top 10 list of my favorite moments!) . Couldn't have gone with a better group of people. SO FUN! Already planning our next trip with them!
My kids are just growing.. leaps and bounds! My oldest goes to High School next year.. so sad! He starts drivers ed this summer.. wow.. where is time going? My two oldest (both boys) are almost 5'10" tall (im only 5'2") and my daughter. who's 10 almost is 5'! She wears the same shoe size as me! She also thinks we wear the same clothes size too.. as I am always finding things missing.. though I am CLEARLY not the same size as a 10 year old! lol.
Speaking of size.. I made some goals at Brave Girls.. that I wrote down and one of them was to become healthy. I have started working out everyday (started meaning.. THIS week).. too me a while to start this one (as brave girls was in February). BUT excited.. now that my kids are out of school, it's easy to get up at 7:30 and head straight to the gym. Hope I can keep it up! I have also started a diet back in february, that I LOVE. I don't consider it a diet.. more of a way of life.. eating as much as possible only fresh fruits, veggies and meats. You can have olive oil, butter.. but I have found I am so amazed at how WONDERFUL I feel not putting processed foods into my body. I also try not to eat wheat or breads.. and no dairy.. (except for yogurt)... and no sugar. I AM IN LOVE with agave nectar.. It's a wonderful substitute for sugar. It taste JUSt like honey, but is derived from a cactus. SO much healthier for you.. and you can use it in place of sugar on just about everything. In-fact I would say EVERYTHING. I love it. I found a WONDERFUL almond chocolate milk that I love to drink.. if im a craving dairy.. seriously good. And I can still eat stuff like oatmeal, potatoes, rice.. I have learned to make alot of "sauces" from scratch.. like my own barbecue sauce. Its amazing how if you stop eating the sugar and breads.. how you eventually don't even want to eat them anymore. I am amazed how good my body feels all the time. I never feel "blah" or bloated after I eat.. and I eat ALOT.. love having meatloaf with peas and mashed potatoes.. shepherds pie (without cheese), roast... when I used to eat those foods accompanied with other types of oils, breads, or processed foods.. I would always feel so crappy after I ate. Now I eat and 20 minutes later I feel energetic.. "light".. seriously.. gotta try it. It's called the Elimination Diet. Search for it on the web.. So much info about there about it. It's used alot for people with good allergies, to determine why certain foods or IF certain foods bother your body.. metabolism.. heatlh.. it's a GREAT diet even if you do it just for 30 days to see if there is anything you really shouldn't be eating. Healthwise.
So that is my life right now! Busy with family, work.. church.. love my calling right now by the way. Love working with all the amazing women in my ward. It's been a hard calling.. but so rewarding spiritually.
Life is always a challenge, but I feel good! Heading in a good direction.
