I remember when I was in high school my mom had a fascination with the color purple. All shades of purple. One summer when I came to visit, she has recently re-decorated her living room. New paint, new carpet.. new everything. She had also had second hand pieces.. so this was the first time.. she had everything new and she deserved it. She was raising 13 kids for goodness sake. When I walked into the house..the first thing that caught my eye was the light iris shade of carpet that covered the floor. Almost white.. but a TRUE tint of purple in there. The walls were also a shade of lilacs.. (my mom also had a love of lilac bushes.. still does today.. yum). She had couches that had a faint stripe of cream/lavender and plum.. with darker plum accent pillows and painting with shades of silver and plum and lilacs in them. It was tastefully done.. but I have to admit.. I DID NOT LIKE PURPLE! lol.. so while I was excited for her new room.. I was left wondering.. really? purple? mom.. really? She also told us AND herself she was never good at decorating or home decor.. the truth was.. she was just totally ahead of her times.. now I can see that room in a high-rise somewhere.. in New York City.. accented with dark shades of wood, stainless steel and a hint of grey with Orchids in a glass vase on the cofee table. I can also see it in the country.. in a cottage with white weathered furniture, vintage lace as accents and worn wood floors. With a bouquet of purple wildflowers in an old weathered white pitcher.. on the table. My mom truly was just ahead of her times.. she has always had wonderful taste. And you know what the funny thing is.. now NOW i love purple.. well MOST shades of purple. I love shades of plum, iris, lilacs, orchids, eggplant, amethyst, violet, and lavender. I admit I do have a hard time painting with it.. but I recently did a piece that had purple and I actually really loved it. So today's monday moodboard is in honor of my mom and her wonderful sense of style.. (just a few years too early)..

Hi Christy. Hope you enjoyed the nice Jersey weather this weekend. Anxious to start your next class but am hoping maybe one day you'll offer another SHE ART workshop that's different from the first. I LOVED that Workshop.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to shades of purple. Not a fan of any too pastel. I do love that linen dress...paired with leggings it would be so cute and comfy!

Well I hymned and hawwed all day about weather I should register or not...it was a choice of going to the grocery or doing the workshop...my fridge won out...sigh...it was just not in my budget this time...but maybe you will have it again...I did however send the link to my sister and she signed up for it...good thing as she just hurt her knee and can only sit...so it will be good for her to be able to create.....I loved the video that you showed....hope you offer it again!

I've been arguing with myself back & forth for a couple weeks...should I or shouldn't I register for the Three Hearts workshop? I loved the She Art Workshop SO much, and it really got my old creative juices flowing again... but can I afford another one right now? So hubby said "if you really think it'll be worth it"... Alright! I know it'll be worth it! So I think I just got in under the wire...Thank you Christy for offering the discounted price til today! Now I just have to try not to buy too many new supplies, teehee!

i absolutely LOVE purple! all shades. it's funny, though, the same reaction you had to purple, i have to YELLOW! but i've just been adding a little bit here and there to my wardrobe and my art. i love experimenting with colors i love, but it is so much more of a (fun) challenge to incorporate those colors i'm not so fond of--and then i end up falling in love with them anyway! :)

I've always been a Aubergine, Purple, plum sort of girl. No lilac's here. Painted my room purple ( what was I thinking)!
Your mother loved the color of ROYALTY!
Orchid, Eggplant, Amethyst girls have to stick together. We are strong women!
Shopping with my mom today and purple, plum etc isall over the fashion world. Paired with greys, peony,pink to mauves, etc.
Your class sound slike so much fun.I would love to play with your all, but i will just have to check in to see what you are up to. Two 2 kids graduating from college this year the $$ keep adding up. But so do the :) :)
