happy new year everyone! Last week we had so much fun just hanging out with my family and our close friends. We all went up to Driggs where my brother lives and hung out in cabin, skiied, snowboarded played games into wee hours of the morning.. it was a GREAT relaxing weekend. I LOVE my family. My brothers are so stinking funny.. i swear I come home with my sides hurting everytime we are together because I am laughing so hard. Anyhow.. it was just truly a good time. Hope yours was amazing too!
okay so my last post last week I was saying how I was just TOTALLY not motivated to be in my studio that day.. so I kinda played hookie instead.. well the next day.. I had all this creative energy I painted in my studio ALL DAY LONG! here is a little peak of what I did..
I love snowmen and chevron.. so thought a line including both for my upcoming liscening show would be fun! being in my studio gets me so inspired to just create all the time..
THIS year I have many new years resolutions.. but I also have my " leap" list for 2012 as well. My resolution list is more a goal or commitment that I want to do that are important must do's.. like saying my daily prayers, spending more quality time with each of my kids, attending the temple more. Those types of things.. my "do what matters most" things.
Then I have my "leap" list.. which is what I would consider my more selfish list..( haha..) things I want to do that creativly push me more as an artist and individual. They aren't my do what matters most list.. (because truly my family and my spiritual testimony is what is the most important to me).. but it is important to me too. I realized last year.. that spreading my wings and taking those leaps I did last year.. not only helped me grow into someone I had been missing for almost 10 years.. but it actually helped me find some "me" time.. which in turn helped me be a better mom, wife.. friend. I think taking time for ourselves is important. I truly do.
So this year I have my leap list and I am bursting at the seams to get started. Some of them are.. paint at least once a week in my studio, try new mediums I haven't done before... host my own art retreat here in my hometown.. offer new online art classes with other creative friends.. those are just a few. I have many more! lol.
One of my goals this year though is really to try some new mediums and learn new things.. and I have to be honest and tell you I have not taken many classes throughout my life. I have only taken I think 3 on-line classes (and only 2 that I actually participated in).. and I have only been to two art events where I actually was the student and took the classes and learned! They both were at Donna downey's inspired events. Wow those were incredible events! So that is one of my goals this year. I use to think that in order to grow creatively I had to take classes that taught me new techniques.. but I have learned over the last year that classes that also help me grow spiritually as an artist are important as well. This week I thought It would be fun to feature some of the classes I am excited about doing this year. Some I am participating in (which believe it or not helps me grow leaps and bounds too) and some I am will just be the student in.
This first class Is one I am going to be both a participant and a student! About a year or so ago I came across a blog called " Dirty Little Footprints". A blog written by this amazing artist Connie Hozvicka.I was not only inspired by her art but also her totally fun personality as well so I secretly stalked her and her art! lol As fate would have a few months later she emailed me about doing a project with her on her blog.. I was SO excited and even more so that we were able to start a new friendship! Over the last year as I have been able to get to know her.. I adore her EVEN MORE! One of my favorite things I admired about her was a class she has put on for the last 2 years.. called 21 Secrets.. Its a workshop where she invites 21 artist to come and share their favorite creative art journal technique. I LOVE art journaling.. so this was on my do to list for 2012.. THEN i was blown away once again when Connie invited me to join her as one of the teachers! I am super stoked about it and more so because of being able learn new mediums from other awesome artist as a student! I love art journaling.. because I have always loved the idea of keeping of a journal. I think a blog is a lot like a journal.. and I love the idea of combining both writing and feelings and emotions along with art. What could honestly be better?
So I am SUPER excited about this workshop for 2012.. AND because I know you will love it so much too.. I am going to give a spot into the class as well.. and someone can join me and we can learn and grow together! Can't WAIT!!! All you have to do to be entered to win is post on today's blog post and tommorow (when I come back and tell you about my next class for 2012).. I will announce the winner! can't wait!
If you want to learn more about this workshop and the other 20 amazing artist.. you can go to Connie's website HERE
.. okay.. enough talk about being creatively inspired.. I am FEELING SUPER inspired right now and better get out to my studio and play some.. while I still have it! lol
Happy monday!!

I've heard about this! I would love to join. Maybe it will be one I will actually FINISH!!! LOL!!!!
