School's just about out for my kids--two more weeks! I thought it would be fun to make a journal for my 9-year-old daughter to write in over the summer. Her 3rd grade teacher has stressed writing skills this year--I would love for Lina to keep up her writing over the summer. She is an amazingly creative thinker and enjoys composing stories.
I used the June Main kit contents for this project. The journal was just something I had on hand.
To cover the journal I cut the patterned paper to fit just inside the edges and the binding. I stitched around the paper before adhering it to the book, both the base piece, the inset patterned paper, and the ribbon. For an extra-tacky stick on the base paper, I ran it through my Xyron machine.
I used the Cosmo Cricket stickers to title the journal, then added the bling from the Prima stamp set.
For an extra-fun punch to the journal, I layered buttons from the kit (LOVE those red ones!) and a sweet 7 Gypsies butterfly brad.
Put together a journal for your kids summer or for yourself to record your thoughts, feelings, or travel notes :)

A fabulous journal. Just love all the details.
