Once I've torn through my kit to make my monthly layouts, I still love using my kit leftovers to create fun new projects with my stash! In this post, I want to show you some fun ways to use this classic tape from the Frugal Fab kit!
One of my favorite ways to use tape is to punch it! Depending on the thickness of the tape and intricacy of the punch design, this can have varying levels of success. In order to avoid breaking your punches, I would NOT use a thick tape like this with a detailed Martha Stewart doily punch, for instance!
In order to get a good, clean punched strip, I adhere the tape to a piece of scrap cardstock and then run it through the border punch.
This is the result:
Just trim off the excess tape on the edges and you're good to go!
A second favorite way to use tape is to anchor photos. Even a thick tape like this roll can be cut in half and work as excellent "pretend" washi tape! I keep a separate pair of scissors for sticky materials, so that I don't have to worry about ruining a favorite pair with the adhesive!
I love how this technique anchors photos and adds a fun whimsical touch.
My third favorite thing to do with tape is mist it! Since the texture of this tape is somewhat fabric-like, it takes mist really well. Adding mist also allows you to vary the color scheme, meaning the tape can match more projects--always a good thing, right?
For this sample I used this fun pink mist from Maya Road:
I temporarily adhered the tape to a piece of cardstock and misted over it. Then, I quickly took the tape off before it got stuck to the paper.
And here's the final look! (ps--don't mind the background. Turns out law school notes make a great scrap surface for sticky, misty stuff!)
And there you have it--three fun ways to play with tape! Have a happy Monday, everyone!
