The Pebbles tape stickers in the August kit are perfect additions for any project. First I used them on this wedding card.

After using them on the card, I had an idea. I thought it would be fun to use them as sort of a border on a page.

So glad I challenged myself to try it because I love how it turned out :)

In addition to the tape stickers, I added some buttons and dimensional embellishments to give the border a little pop.

WOW, is August almost over!!??.  I'm sure that all of you are getting 'back to school' these days. We hope you are enjoying the end of summer and we look forward to seeing what you're up to as the fall season approaches.

 

There was so much interest for an August kit that we wanted to give one away.  Some of the latest/greatest CHA Summer goodies are in these kits.  And let me tell you, they are fabulous.

Treat Cones

 

I am convinced that even the simplest things can be amazing with some fun packaging and a unique presentation and treat cones are a perfect example. Even simple nuts are more fun if they are packaged and displayed in a pretty decorated paper cone. 

I used the papers and embellishments from the August Scarlet Lime kit to make some small paper cones to hold candies for a simple family dinner to celebrate the end of our summer vacation. It really isn't a huge celebration - nothing extravagant of elaborate - just something fun we like to do. I didn't take  pictures because its honestly just a BBQ with burgers and such and then relaxing outside until dark. 

But it was fun to bring out the little packages of candy cones as a surprise after dinner and present each person with their own container of treats. 

These make pretty centerpieces when they are grouped together in a container. I've seen these used as name markers for meals, too, with each person's name on a cone filled with treats and set on a plate or maybe in the glass. 

I also love these filled with flowers and hung up as a decoration. I found a small container that fit inside the cone and filled the container with water and flowers. 

I can imagine so many ways to use these pretty paper cones! I hope you all have fun with them!

Hey there! May Flaum here, and I've been having the best time with a 6x6 canvas from the mixed media shop. No joke - it took me longer to upload this video to youtube than it did to create the project! I love the idea of making home decor/wall art pieces that can be displayed seasonally, and stored easily.

 

In addition to a canvas to make your own wall art you'll need a Crafter's Workshop stencil, some Tim Holtz distress stains and ink pads, a flourish and alphabet stamp set (I used Kaiser Craft), India Ink Pens, canvas paper or fabric die cut leaves, molding paste, perfect pearls mist, buttons, acrylic paint, hot glue gun, and some glossy accents

 

I hope the video inspires you to try your hand at making your own fall decor project - as you can see it can be quick and easy - and I'm off to make a few more small canvases!

Rub-on Extravaganza!

Hello Scarlet Lime readers! I hope you're all having a great week! Today I have a fun little tip to share that will hopefully help you use up your kit goodies in no time!

One of my favorite items in the Frugal Fab kit (aside from all of the beautiful new papers, of course!) was the Basic Grey rub-on pack, this old guy right here:

This rub-on pack is a little deceiving, because it actually contains WAY more designs than you'd think!

For my second Frugal Fab layout, I wanted to use these rub-ons to create a fun, eclectic festive feeling.

I layered several rub-ons like so:

And then I added some journaling below the rub-ons and a fun mix of alphabet stickers above:

I used my two favorite patterned papers from the kit as background, and here's the final result!

I'm more of a simple scrapping gal, but you can always extend this idea and use even more rub-ons to create a fun, crazy feel on your layout. I love the quirkiness and energy these rub-ons brought to my layout, and I still have endless designs left to choose from!

Summer

Hi, it's Savitri again!!! Can you believe it's now mid-August?!?! If you have school age children, they're either just starting up again or will be soon. If you're without school age kids, the end of summer is coming soon. Before you know it Halloween will be right in front of us! Before we get to Halloween, let's get caught up on our summer scrapbooking! If you just received your August kit, now (in other words soon after the postman hands the package over to you) is the best time to get caught up. Whether you purchased the main or frugal kit you'll be able to do some very awesome summer layouts with the two kits. 

To get you started, let me share a few pieces that I did!

This one was created using the main kit. One thing that I REALLY love about Scarlet Lime kits are the little pieces that Christy put into the kit to make it unique, like the string of blue beads. For my layout I used the blue beads for stems. To adhere the beads, I just used my handy dandy glue gun. The steps I took was:

1. Place the flower where I want it to be
2. Lay the beads under
3. Starting from the top, glue gun the beads and gently push
4. Move on to the next flower 
5. All done!

Easy peasy!!

The Frugal Fab kit has A LOT of embellishments. Oh my!! Who'd have thought everything in the package was less than $20?!?! One favorite of mine from this kit is this Pebbles paper. It's texturized!! So yes, the woodgrain pattern is lumpy and so when I run my hand over it it feels like woodgrain (minus the splinters). Pretty awesome!! 

That's it. I hope you feel inspired to use your kits. I guarantee there are plenty of yummies for you to use!!! 

Hi Everyone...can it really be August already? It is, so it is time for a new challenge. This month we are going to creating something sweet and charming from something so simple! I took some plain old notepads and made these sweet decorated ones...perfect for a little gift or sitting on your own kitchen counter to keep up with that shopping list.

Now here are a few details...

So dig into your stash and create something special. Some great ideas are adding a little trim to a lamp, dressing up a waste can for the bathroom or even making some notepads a little more special!
