Hi again!!! Looking forward to Christmas? Three more sleeps my Emma kept saying today and she cannot wait to see what Father Christmas will leave her.
To remember her silliness I scrapbooked the above using the December Frugal Fab kit. LOVE the kit. The colors are so so fun and even though the embellishments reminds me of the past summer (which I REALLY need to scrapbook) there are many pieces of paper that will work awesomely with winter/holiday photos.
I told you in the last post that 2011 has been great for us and especially our little Emma. One huge thing that she overcome was the fear of water. Last year, even when showering, Emma would scream and yell when water gets into her eyes. We tried getting her to go into the swimming pool but she'd refuse, or scream and yell if we pull her in. Today she's in level three swimming. She's still not as brave as some other kids in the water but every lesson she always make us proud. Emma is now in a competitive gymnastics team practicing 4.5 hrs/week. She loves it and it's been a joy watching her learn new skills. We look forward to seeing where she'll be at this time next year!!
To celebrate Emma's accomplishments, her and I took our crafty and artsy goodness out and while watching Christy's 12 days of artsy ornaments workshop we each created a piece of mixed media pieces (which I learned from the She Arts workshop). This one is mine using paper and embellishments from the December main kit with lots of other goodies from the store: Dick Blick canvas, Stencil, Brushes, and Crayola watercolors. I used techniques from the two workshops to create this piece. I LOVE the flower painting that I did. That was from the ornament class and the flowers actually looked pretty cool (this is coming from somebody who flops at drawing).
I love how the piece turned out and best of all, Emma loves it.
I have so many things to look forward to in 2012 and I hope you do too! Take care and until next year!!!
Hello and Happy Holidays!
I am going to share my projects using the December "Chestnuts and Cinnamon" kit this time. I have some projects started using the Dec. frugal fab kit, but I need to put them away for a few days and concentrate on the holidays.
The "Chestnuts and Cinnamon" kit is definitely Christmasy, but I find its easy to take elements of the kit and create so many great non-holiday projects.
I made a small and very simple pocket album to remind me of my goal to show more gratitude in 2012 and added tags with some of my favorite quotes.
The quote above is one of my very favorite and I want to make some art soon based it that I can display and look at often.

on my Pinterest board. It will be perfect for my goal to organize. I can't wait to use some of my pretty paper scraps to make more bobbins and then untangle my ribbon and vintage lace and put all my pretty organized bobbins in a basket to look at and use! I almost want to work on this one during the holidays because I am so excited about it!
My last little project is a letter charm using that fun wood alphabet from the December kit. I just glued a small jewelry bail on the letter and let it dry. Then I used a piece of ribbon from the kit to make a pretty monogram necklace. I made several of these letter charms for personalized and easy gifts. I also want to use some of the letters tied onto packages with bows to add some cuteness to my holiday gift wrapping.
These beautiful kits and all the goodies from the Mixed Media Shop certainly put me in the holiday spirit. The December Main Kit has me digging into these gorgeous papers and I scrapped my favorite picture of the holiday season so far. I took this photo at Longwood Gardens and just loved it. The sun shining into the conservatory hit the tree perfectly for a gorgeous photo.
I also had to make a card...I mean it is the Christmas season...
The December Frugal Fab Kit is just fun! I used a picture of my guys...my sunshine...in this layout. I also used some goodies from the store like Liquitex Inks and Distressed Ink Pads. Lets not forget the Crafters Workshop Templates or the Faber-Castell India Ink Pens. They work perfectly with these kits.
I made this tag...I think this just may go on a gift this holiday season...
Don't you just love that Unity Stamp? All these things really have me looking forward to the holiday and the new year! I hope you feel the same way!

The theme this month really got me thinking--2012 is going to be such a year of change for our family, and I wanted to record my feelings at this moment. I kept this layout pretty simple--photo, lots of white space, and some words that get to the heart of the issue,

Last week I shared my thoughts and goals for the upcoming year. Today, I pay tribute to 2011, which has been a GIGANTIC year in terms of life changes around here....
by using December's Scarlet Lime Main Chestnuts and Cinnamon Kit
and the Frugal Fab Chaps Kit.
First up using the Main Kit: A Year in Review 2011~ Every year I follow this same format for creating a year in review layout. I simply go thru and pick a favorite or memorable picture from each month of the year and insert it into the sketch. Each year they turn out just a wee bit different but follow this main sketch, which I will share with you. So please feel free to snag it by right clicking the image and saving to your hard drive.
Here is the layout I created:
See how easy it is to just plug those pictures right into the formula. Love, Love, LOVE the ease of this design. And I love the neutral colors on these papers from Basic Grey. Add a little festive paint and voila. An awesome way to pay tribute to the past 365 days!
I also created a cute little canvas with this month's kit. I am hoping that my niece is going to like it. She is a terrific ballerina and when I saw this quote from the 7Gypsies rubon's, well the whole project just kinda created itself. I used the 4x4 canvas from the Scarlet Lime Shop, which you can purchase for the LOW LOW price of $2.49 HERE (seriously buy SEVERAL, you are going to LOVE this size!!!) and some of the new paint dabbers from Ranger, which you can find in the shop HERE. Let me preface this post by saying, that I have never used a paint dabber before in my life and I do NOT know how I have gone so long without using them. The ease with which you can use these and the endless creative possibilities make these a FAST FAVORITE for me.
I kinda, totally, really love this little piece of art. That doesn't happen too often! Try your hand at this miniature size and see what you think!
For this month's frugal fab project, I created a layout using a picture from my daughter's last day of school. AND a super fun idea. Take note of the "faux bubblewrap stamp" that I created using the paint dabbers! All you do is push down nice and firm with the dabber and voila, you have this perfect circle image, repeat the steps and you have the bubblewrap look down on your paper in no time flat. I actually started out using the background paper on this layout as the workspace for the canvas up above! I would blot down on the patterned paper and then swipe on the canvas. I loved the result so much, I just used the paper as the jump off point for this layout.
So there we have it. 3 projects that came together in about 3 hours and that was while I was making Christmas goodies at the same time too. I hope that you are able to use some of my ideas and techniques with your Scarlet Lime kits this month.

The new year is almost upon us and I must say I am ready to move on. Time to look forward to the future and put the past behind us. This year I am ready to move forward and do that.
It has been a tough year. I lost one of my sisters to breast cancer this year. My family has been touched by this disease way too much. Both my mom and my mother-in-law are survivors but the loss has put life in persepctive. It brought my family closer and we even recently had a family reunion. It is nice that something so sad had brought us close again.
My mom has retired to Florida. It is a little sad the we will no longer be able to hop in the car and run down for an afternoon of horseback riding. The nice part is we can look forward to wonderful visits with her. We spent a week with her this summer and it was a great time. My boys are now calling her Mom-Mom with the manatee's instead of Mom-Mom with the horses and she loves that.
So for me this year is about moving forward, enjoying all life has to offer. 2012 is full of promise and I am going to make the most of it!
