Behind the Art June 2012 MM kit video!!

Hey friends! Sorry it's not monday.. life got in the way.. but in a GOOD way.. my sister.. well sisters and mom came into town for an unexpected visit.. so spent some time with them! I miss my siblings since they have all gradually moved away over the last year.. you take for granted when you live close.. just how awesome it is to be able to see them whenever you want! So it was good to see them and their kids! Love my nieces! One of my nieces, Jessica.. is 17

and will be graduating next year and LOVES art and drawing.. she want to major in art in college and I told her TO GO FOR IT! I would have loved to be "professional" trained as an artist.. to understand paints and mediums and colors.. everything I know is self taught.. either by trial and error or googling it to find out about it! lol.. so how cool to actually study it in collage. I begged her once I got my studio finished to come spend a week with me and just paint! I am always so inspired by young people who have a passion for art! Makes my heart soo happy! (I also told her she has to paint me something for my art wall.. and so lucky she agreed!)

anyhow.. great week so far!
So today I am posting about our June Scarlet Lime Mixed MEdia kit.. each month I do a video using this kit..

and here is what I came up with for THIS month..

I used the June Mixed Media Kit as well as the Wood Ampersand canvas, Archival Ink Pads in Various colors, golden fluid paints, DecoArt Brights paint pack and Tim Holtz alcohol inks. Oh and faber castell pens for shading AND my infamous doodle pen (that is where all the texture on the case comes from)..

Lots and lots of color!! as usual right? lol

you will notice at the start of the video I talk about how I want to keep the background white (and infact don't put any paper on it or paint.. just spray right onto the white canvas).. and then yeah.. my plan for white space just goes to pot. lol

there is SOME white space.. but not as much as I had originally intended.. but you have to paint what feels good right? So.. he video is posted below.. just a bit..

BUT FIRST.. some other fun news.. so many of you ask me where the music comes from that I use for my videos both on youtube and in my classes. and MOSt of it comes from my talented baby brother, VJ (or Van Campbell Junior)..

anyhow after much pleading and begging for over a year.. he finally created an album featuring all the songs.. and will be available in our Scarlet Lime store starting MONDAY!!

features 9 songs.. all written and performed by him on his guitar. Monday I will post some sneak peeks of it and we will have a special offer on them as their debut! thank you VJ!! mwah!
