hello beautiful friends!
We just got done with our second she matters retreat for fall ... and what a fun week it was! BOTH retreats this fall were just amazing and full of wonderful women!
LOVE having these women in my home for a week, spoiling them with love and food and art and laughter! (the laughter always comes in the form of margie lol). Just really enjoyed this group of women! AND it snowed for us! wahoo! Lots and lots and LOTS of snow! So fun for those who hadn't ever experienced it before!
Many of you have asked when we will be announcing our next 2015 retreats as our spring 2015 retreat is sold out. We have just finalized our dates and will be announcing them soon! An email will go out to those on the wait-list.. so watch for that in the next week or two, if you have emailed me! Then once I have sent it out to those on the wait-list, I will announce it here. Often times, more than not, we don't have any open spaces left.. so emailing me for the wait-list is best! christy@scarletlime.com
The last few retreats I have been teaching them the quilt series girls and my flower girls, the girls I will be teaching in my She Art 4 workshop.. and this last week I had alot of fun changing it up a bit and stepping outside of my comfort zone with color schemes and even techniques!
(i am exploring my "dark" side with new colors and it's been fun!)
It's always fun when you start to change up the way you do things and in the process learn new creative ways to finish a piece.
So i am excited to share with you in the She Art 4 Online Workshop some of those new things I have been working just in the last couple of weeks!
(this is a version of the quilt girls I did of my trues! used lots of oil pastels with this one and TONS of layers and scraping away paint. Was so much fun!)
I was so excited to film this new version of the quilt girl, I jumped right back into the studio monday morning and started filming away!
Same with the flower girl as well! Been really exploring my primsacolor pencils and my oil pastel pentel crayons (avaialble in the scarlet lime store).. and just loving the details I am getting with the faces in the flower girls! just YUM!
So in this workshop, even if you have taken a class from in person, where I taught these two girl, I know you will learn LOTS of new things.. and you will have lots of ways to create her with fun different results! can't wait to share!
If you haven't signed up and want to join me! you can still join at the discounted early bird price! Up until Monday!
More info is HERE on this page!
anyhow, can't wait for this to start! The online She Art 4 class, starts in ONE week! Wahoo!
and to celebrate, let's do a giveaway today..
A spot into this new class AND a $50 Gift Certificate to my Scarlet Lime Store!
simply enter a comment below on what you are most excited to learn in the class as well as your email address, and I will pick a winner friday and email the winner!
in other news.. i had a crazy notion in California a couple of weeks ago, while attending the Misty Mawn Workshop at Jenny Dohs Studio.. and I colored my hair DARK!
it's actually a long story.. didn't start out dark.. was a warm beautiful blond, but by the time the hair dresser finished the second round of "adding in a few darks"..it ended up all dark. Oh well! Live and learn! lol.. I am keeping it for a few months.. as my hair is SO thin and fragile, I don't think it can handle any more product on it right now lol. It's just hair.. right?
oh and for those of you waiting for allie's Etsy Shop to re-open for the holidays.. she has been making lots of new beautiful vintage earrings and restocking old favorites. This week she is taking pictures and getting her shop ready, so she can open hopefully next week sometime! They will be ready to ship, so will go out as soon as you order, in plenty of time for Christmas! wahoo!
well hope you are all having a beautiful week! don't forget to comment below for a chance to win a spot into the She Art 4 workshop! and remember LEAVE your email address!
Happy Wednesday!!
xoxo
Christy

I would love to learn to explore and embrace color, as I've only experienced it detracting from my art rather than enhancing it :(

I would love to learn how to use the oil pastels because outside of high school art class..which I don't remember much from..I haven't used them but would love to apply it to my art journal since I think it would be less messy and easier to travel with. Thanks for the opportunity.

I love to learn new ideas and techniques and how to make them my own. The workshop looks like lots of fun, and I'd love to be able to participate.

Wow I would love to win. I am struggling with drawing faces and coloring them in. I also really like how you added different items as part of her hair. I always make my faves have the same hair and would love to challenge myself to be more creative and less realistic in my drawings/paintings. Thank you for having a giveaway!
Also, I love the dark hair. It really compliments your eyes.
