hello friends! and happy Monday! Monday's are always so hard for me.. I feel like I jump right out of bed, start working, and then by 6:00 o'clock I realize I am still in my pjs, no bra, hair and teeth not brushes, and I haven't even remembered to eat! lol. I don't work on the weekends, so come Monday, I have a billion emails to return, lists to accomplish for the online store, my online workshops and art society club! BUT at least I get a lot done right :) lol.
I just wanted to share with you a couple of fun new things!
Art Society is up for February, if you are a subscriber, then your links went out yesterday at 5:00 PM PST! Check spam for the link!
If you AREN'T a subscriber, this month I decided it would be fun to combine my love of creating and all things messy, with my new found passion for planning! As many of you know, I love carrying around with me my watercolor journal, a sketchbook journal and usually a list note journal as well. One I can write creative thoughts in. Well until recently, I never really thought of hosting all of these journals, in ONE place, under one cover! A few weeks ago, I was introduced to a Midori!
(this is a beautiful leather midori cover that the mintgreenpolkadot uses)
A midori is a traditionally a leather cover, that can hold up to 5 journals/sketchbooks, list books, etc! All together using an easy elastic binding system, that allows you to put in as many as you want, and then when you have filled a particular journal, you just remove it, and add a fresh clean one to the mix!
(see how the Bowl full of Lemons used hers to fill it up with lots of different journals? oh so yummy even just to look at! Think of all that goodness that's inside!)
So I found a tutorial online on how to make your own and I was hooked! I love the look of the leather journals, however, being an artsy girl who loves colors and LOVES patterns, I thought to myself.. I WONDER if I could make one out of fabric, using a simlar technique, but one that doesn't require a sewing machine. So I went to town one night, picked up some fabric, found some scrapbooking paper, and ended up making a whole slew of them!
I love how they turned out. I also make a bunch of journal inserts to go inside! (some watercolor, some mixed media, some sketch-paper, etc).
and then put all the books into the covers! Each one right now, hosts three different journals. I did a mix of journals and made some with watercolor paper, some with mixed media grade paper, some with sketchbook, doodle paper, lined paper for note taking, and even one with graph paper!
BUT then, again.. my artsy messy side, and love of all things handmade, I had a thought, hello, why don't I just create my own fabric, using mixed media techniques, and then I will have one of a kind midori's that were created by my own hands! So again.. I headed to town, picked up some white heavy cotton fabric, and using a slew up fun techniques, made several different journal covers! Each using different techniques!
SO i thought it would be fun for this months Art society to show everyone how to make their own fabric, turn the fabric into a Midori (Journal cover), and then also how to make your own journal/watercolor/art journal, inserts to go inside the midori covers!

February's Art Society Mini Class: Hand-painted Midori Covers and Inserts
and.. in OTHER news.. I recently posted my first two "planner" videos! I recently set up a planner for my mom and wanted to do a video on it before I sent it to her. I also set up a pocket size planner for me, to use as a wallet/slash errand planner! I made custom dividers, and inserts for both, used my artwork in both, and printed off my own inserts for both! So I have them both below if you want to find out more and come to the planner "dark side" with me :) hahahaha..
Here is mom mom's planner set up
