In this 2 week workshop, i will share with you how to create what I call my signature "quilt dress girls, and my "flower girls'! Both of these girls produce very different results and the techniques used in both project are also very different from each other and nothing like anything Ive ever taught before!
In week one, we will create the whimsical "quilt" dress girl! During this week I will teach you how to create a background using fun techniques with paper, wallpaper, pastes, mediums, paints, and more! We will create lots of texture that will be used to create depth in our painting once our quilt girl emerges from our canvas!
I will also share with you a simple way to create faces on these tiny petite girls! Often times when faces like these are so small, we get really intimidated because we don't know how to add detail to something so small. For this week, I will share wit you easy steps that will create fabulous faces but also with character and depth and shading!
We will finish the girl with my fun washi tape tricks, doodling and "fake sewing" tips and more. (there is NO sewing machine used in this process! lol.. no worries!). Your end result will be a fun and whimsical gorgeous girl with a beautiful quilt skirt and wings to help her soar! I will show you a few different variations on this girl and how to make it unique to you!
Our second week will focus what has been lovely called "the flower girl". I am not exactly sure who gave her the name, I think someone in one of my classes, but it has stuck! This girl isn't just about flowers though! In this workshop I show you how to take inspiration from headbands, hats, headdresses, flowers around you, feathers, ferns and more! NOT JUST flowers, but many different things to wear on your head! and create them into a gorgeous centerpiece for your girls hair. We use a four step process to finish the girl and unlike ALL of my other girls Ive ever created, it DOESN'T start with a background. the background actually comes in very last!
For this girl, we solely use napkins and patterns for her, and work only with transparent materials including paint, mediums, alcohol ink, transparent papers and shading! Everything is about layers in this process and seeing create unique hand-cut delicious goodness in our art! The techniques in this class really push your creativity and teach you a BRAND new way to create!
Of course I will also share with you my current way of doing these soft whimsical faces and share with you other options for creating faces as well! Showing you different ways to do eyes, noses, mouths. But also sharing with you, the current way I create mine!
I am beyond excited for this course as it's been along time in the making! I have been able to teach this course over this year at many different retreats and I have been blown away by the results of my students work each time! Their confidence level soars and they leave feeling and knowing they can create these on their own including faces with the techniques and tools they have been taught.
(here are some of those girls works in progress and how they have each, uniquely made them their own!)
I can't wait to finally share my girls with YOU girls! My on-line community of friends and supporters!
