Hi everyone! It's Keshet here to give you a little info on how to make your kits work for YOU. That's what they're there for, right?
When I first opned the March Frugal Fab kit and saw all of the school-themed products, I must admit I was stumped. You see, I just graduated law school and am no longer a student. I also don' thave any little ones marching off to school in cute little backpacks. Even my husband works! So how was I going to use this kit?
The first approach I took was using the non-themed items for a layout with more general subject matter. In Opposites Attract below, I used the man and woman icons from the sticker sheet to frame my journaling about how my husband and I are different, but still similar.
For the next layout, however, I decided to spin the theme in a different way--focusing not on school, but on how the ABSENCE of school affects my life. More specifically, my dreams and wanderings about possibly going back to school one day. For this layout, I mixed theme specific and more general products.
While the "back to school" sticker is pretty theme specific, the star is more general. And while the addition and subtraction icons may seem to scream "school," they can actually be used for a variety of fun titles--like "child + snowcone = happiness" or "you + me = the best kind of love." You get the idea.
The layout that resulted is both about school but has no pictures of school, has school-themed prodcuts and basic ones, and represents a true slice of my life right now. It was a blast to create and a great way to use product in a less obvious way!
Love all your tips! Thanks so much for sharing :)
