Hi all! It's Savitri here!! Hope your Thursday is wonderful!! Today it's my turn to share what inspires me. But, as I type this entry on my MacBook Pro I can't help not thinking about the guy who inspired many: Steve Jobs, the true master of innovation. It was the first thing I read on my iPad this morning and I hope he can now rest in peace and even though he's passed on, we can still be inspired by him.
So... what inspires me? Many things and a couple of them have been written by Rachel and Keset. I do want to add two things to the list: Quotes and my girls.
Here's one I love, by Steve Jobs (Interview with Business Week in 1998):
That's been one of my mantras - focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: you have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.
While I do enjoy a complicated page/card here and there, my true style is clean and simple. Many think that it's easy to create a simple papercrafting project but I don't think so. While I have days when I can whip out a simple page in 30 minutes there are other times when it'd take me 1-2 hrs. With a simple design you only have so many pieces to work with and with those pieces you really want to make a statement or really highlight the photo(s).
And another one from Dr. Seuss:
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
When I first started blogging I used to create based on what I thought my blog readers wanted. But one day I came across this quote and had an inspirational moment. From that day on I created for me and the two girls (my number one inspiration actually -- and you can see their silliness on my blog or scrapbook pages). I'd post my creations on my blog and other galleries and not care whether others like it or not. Sometimes we worry about what others might think of our work, I am still too at times, but if we can look pass what others might think then we can become better at doing what we love.
Before I leave I want to leave you with a few simple designs which I love that really made me want to look at it for hours:
from Pixtal Peep
from BHG
Have a great one all!!
Great post, Savitri! I love your simple style and totally agree with staying true to ourselves. After all, who will be looking at our scrapbooks in the long run?
Have a great day :)
