Mimi Leinbach: Love Using the Main Kit!

Our month of love is wearing down, but at least we have an extra day this leap year! Just because this month is almost over doesn't mean we can't talk about those things we love everyday. I LOVE the Main Kit this month. It is not my typical color pallet that I usually work with but maybe that is why I enjoyed it so much!

One of my new loves, art journaling...

One of the reasons I am loving my art journal so much is the freedom it allows. I use products I would never use on layouts or cards...modeling paste and fun stamps.

I also can not seem to get enough of the Crafters Workshop Stencils.

If you don't have one the Scarlet Lime Pen it is a must have. I find myself using it on EVERYTHING!

Since we are talking about love, it is one of those things we should share with those we love each day...so my kiddo's will each be getting one of these...just because!

I actually made this cute little box, using the packaging from Scarlet Lime Bead Art. I love the watches and the cute little boxes they come in a ton!

 

Melanie Jarocki: LOVE the Frugal FAB kit :)

February's Frugal FAB kit is LOADED with goodies! Here are two projects that I put together with the kit.

I was really excited to see the Pink Paislee Nantucket embellishments in the kit this month. Perfect for scrapping our Hawaii photos! this bling flower caught my attention first and I used it for this adorable picture of my girls, taken the first day we were in Maui.

I added the flower to the yellow pattern paper first and the cut around the bling. This helps the flower pop a little more off the page.

The leaves are just something I hand-cut out of the green pattern paper. Then I folded them and inked the creases to create "veins".

Next, I knew I had to make a baby card with this cute American Crafts fabric trim safety pins! And there pink in the kit . . .

I used Jenni Bowlin dauber paint for the American Crafts "sweet" stamp. LOVE the way it turned out! And the felt embellishment was an easy way to really add some dimension to the card. The black letters were a little too bold for me, so I toned them down with a white gel pen.

This month we all shared things that we love. And now we get to share our projects using our theme as inspiration.

I created a layout using the February Main Kit that was almost a direct correlation between my blog post HERE. I am loving: pilates (and the results it offers), the beautiful birds in my backyard and jewelry from family and friends. Here is how I interpreted it:

The Main Kit is loaded with new American Crafts/ Dear Lizzie goodies. AND for the first time that I can remember,  a roller stamp wheel. That was really fun to use! I cut out the scalloped trim on the Dear Lizzie paper to help create little vignettes for each of my {loves}. And a snip snip to the numbered patterned paper was an easy way to number and list each of them!

Another project I made using the Main Kit was a camera based layout. I was instantly snagged by the adorable Dear Lizzie camera sticker embellishment and the fun faux lomo style patterned background paper.

And my last layout for the month uses the Frugal Fab Kit. Packed to the brim with scrappy goodness! I was drawn to the soft, pastel colors combined with some funky cute patterns. And with the weather hitting the 80 degree mark here in East Texas, I thought I would pay an early homage to Spring! From Flowers, to Frost, to Sun. We have seen it all the past 2 weeks.

A favorite project--Melanie Jarocki

Earlier in the month, I posted things that I love. This is a project that I  made that I love.

I used the Scarlet Lime December Frugal FAB to create this album, ready for photos and stories that I want to tell.

The front and back covers have pockets. I added in the Pink Paislee acrylic cards between the pages.

Using some of the patterned papers, I made insert pages for extra photo space. Adding the color rub-ons to the side of the Glitz pages gives them a little more life and color.

I also added in the Pink Paislee rub-on packaging insert (with the yellow border) for an extra page.

The tag strips on the bottom of the patterned papers were a perfect way to finish off some of the extra pages. And the house rub-ons fit in the framed areas almost too well.

I added another pocket to this Glitz page.

I tried to be sure there was space for photos and lots of writing. This book is more for me and the special stories I want to tell in 2012.

I actually had a different title in mind for the book, but then I liked how the letters spelling out my name looked . . . so I went with that :)

Lori Jolley: a love project

Hello everyone! I'm still playing with the January kits and I have to say one of the wonderful things about the Scarlet Lime kits is how much I love going back to them! I'm inspired all over again whenever I get out an older kit!

I pulled some paper and the Pink Paislee wood shapes from the January main kit and decided I could incorporate one of my other loves into a project  - crochet. I wanted to dress up the wood shapes somehow and noticed some of them have little holes along the edges

I chose the cute table or cake stand shape and used a cotton crochet thread to backstitch through those holes with a needle to form a foundation. Then I crocheted a simple edging and now it looks like there is a lacey edge on the table! 

Since we are thinking about love this month, I also cut a simple heart out of paper and sewed around the edge with a blanket stitch to form a foundation for more crochet. I added another simple edge to make my heart pretty. 

I'll incorporate both of these little altered embellishments into projects very soon. 

So grab an older kit and be inspired to find a new way to use it! We would love to see how you are inspired all over again!!!

 

Savitri Wilder: Things I LOVE

Goodness, where do I start?!?! There are so many things that I love, with my family as the first and foremost. They mean the world to me and my happiness revolves around them. 

I have been blessed. Ever since I was a little girl I've been given the opportunity to travel. When I was five we moved to the US. Then I lived back in Indonesia again for a little while and now I am in the UK. In between the three continents I've traveled to many many places. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to travel!!

I LOVE eating too. I love it so much that it might be a very close tie to traveling. Let's just put it this way, if Andrew Zimmerman offers me to take over his show I would ;)

My next love is photography, mostly portraits of the girls. I feel very happy inside when I capture a little moment, a memory or a place where the girls are happy. It's why I love scrapbooking so much too. It's a way for me to put all the pictures I took into one (pretty) place.

I've been dabbing into the professional photography too, still building up my portfolio, and it really is a great feeling when you can help a family capture a special moment in their life.

Then there's reading. Reading was my first hobby. I've read since I was five I think. I grew up with so many imaginary friends, so many fabulous authors and even now I try to read something at least once a month. Even though I still love buying books (one day I will have an awesome paperback collection of all my favorite classics), my current best friend is the Kindle. There's just nothing better than the 30 seconds time to get a book!

Before I bore you all, I'll share one more love, an odd love. I love taking the girls to their activities. One in particular is gymnastics. Both the girls LOVE gymnastics and they are always so happy when they are there. But, they're not near our home. One gym is 38 minutes and the other 45 minutes. But, despite the distance, it's so worth it each time I see their happy faces. 

That's that! Oh, I almost forgot!! I want to leave you with two pieces of inspiration. I created this using last month's Scarlet Lime kits. I know that many of you haven't touched their kits yet and so this is just a little reminder to go and play with them. They're A LOT of fun!!!

Things I Love: Mimi Leinbach

It is February, the month of love! So this month the design team is sharing with you some of our "loves"!

Of course my true love is my family...Last Thanksgiving Day we ran a 5K together as a family! What a great time!

I love the beach...it just makes me happy! I took this photo on the beach at the Grand Floridian...my favorite resort. Every time we go to Disney this is where we stay...another LOVE!

I love Scrapbooking...this is where I create...

I love being a Soccer Mom...cheering my kids on during their activities brings me great pride. I love that I know their friends and have made the best of friends for myself through their sports and academic clubs!

My girl Lucy passed recently but I could not do a "love" list without including her...

And lastly what self respecting soccer mom doesn't love David Beckham...LOL!

Things I LOVE--Melanie Jarocki

This month the Scarlet Lime design team is talking about the things we love--anything and everything!

Of course, I love my family, they are the main focus of my life.

A few weekends ago, my husband and I had a little getaway. I loved that.

I love the time we spend each night reading by the fire as a family. Little moments that mean much more.

There are also more fun, frivolous things that I love, such as: dark chocolate, hot cocoa, Tillamook Mudslide Ice Cream . . . oh, I guess those all fall under chocolate :)

I also love going for walks.

The colors yellow and red.

Sunshine.

Just a few things that I love.

Lori Jolley: My true loves

There are so many things I love! Maybe I could make a list a mile long if I truly started naming everything. So I'll just list some of the first things that come into my head.

I love sunshine and warm weather.

I love lilacs.

I love to bake and cook and try new recipes.

I love lace and ruffles and pretty dresses.

I love the color green.

I love sewing and quilting and crafting.

I love to be at home.

I love peaches.

I love to experiement and learn new things. 

I love my family more than anything.

I love to crochet.

I love surprises.

I love tomatoes.

I love bright colors and fabric and paper with fun patterns.

I love packages with cute details and pretty wrapping. 

I love the sound of children laughing.

I love lazy mornings.

I love fireworks.

I love the mountains and the smell of pine trees.

I also love it when my box from Scarlet Lime comes in the mail!
