Tree Canvas Using the Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit

Yes, it is that time again...Time to get your hands messy! Making canvases is one of my new favorite things to do. It makes me feel like an artist each time I create one. It also lets me indulge myself in my love of bright and vivid color. I used the  Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit with Christy's new She Art Line by Pink Paislee.

 This canvas is was a ton of fun and it amazes my how I can actually create an image from just a few hand cut triangles. My trees were perfectly frames by the Silver Rhinestones Nestabling Pennants from Want2Scrap. What a fun and different way to use them.

The Kaiser Craft Rub-ons and Faber-Castell India Ink Pens are perfect to add some fun details.

Now for one more way to use this kit...how about an ATC?

I hope you are inspired to dig in and get you fingers messy too. It is really very freeing to create and not worry about making mistakes.  In the mixed media world mistakes tend to make the best art!

Lori Jolley: sunshine canvas

I hope you are seeing more spring than we are! We've had snow, rain, clouds, wind and just barely enough sunshine to make me ache for warm weather! And that is what inspired my canvas this month from the March Mixed Media kit with Christy's fun papers! 

Every year I can barely wait for warm weather and SUNSHINE after the long, dreary winter so I made a canvas that is happy and warm and full of promise of the coming spring. It says, "Bring back the golden sunshine."

April Showers and Flowers

Hello! It's Savitri again :) How is your spring? It's been very British here the last few weeks: Rain, fog, random sunshine and lots of beautiful flowers! 

So, for this month's theme, I came up with April showers and flowers. I want this to be a reminder that while it might be gloomy outside, there are still memories and photographs to be captured and perserved. There are so many things that can be inspired by this month's theme, some examples are:

A walk after the rain. Do note the oddness of this photography... Our youngest is a much stronger walker than her big sister (by five years), HA HA! Oh, don't forget the adorable rain gears!

The glorious blooms that comes with all the rain.

The warm cup of goodness served using vintage inspired floral china.

And last, a page created using the March Main kit with flowers, spring inspired colors and bugs -- it's when they all start coming out of their little winter hideout (kind of wish they just stay there all year long).

Savitri: March Numbers

Hi again!!! Sorry for the late posting but I just came back from vacation (I saw Queen Elizabeth II too!!) and family just left after two weeks of visiting us here in Jolly Good England :)

Over the weekend I got a chance to do a bit of scrapbooking and with the "numbers" theme in mind, I created this two layouts using March's (awesome) Frugal Fab kit. Besides the goodies from the kit, I used Tim Holtz orange spray which I think adds a bit of fun to the layout.

Just an FYI, my oldest is in love with crepe. Everytime we see a crepe booth she'd ask for one.

This next page is of the youngest who LOVES to pick up sticks. We go for a walk often and every time she'd find a stick and would be carrying it around, and hitting whatever along the way with it, until something better comes along. Oh, she walks around with her bunny too. Bunny on one arm and stick on the other hand.

Again I used the Frugal Fab kit for this page. For a little bit of fun, I used Christy's new stamp, Distressed Criss-Cross, right under the photo. I used a very bright yellow ink pad to make the pattern stand out. Love it!!

Mimi Leinbach: March Simple Layouts...Back to my Roots

I love that I am trying new things creatively...slowly making my way in the world of mixed media. Digging in and getting messy but every now and again you need to visit your roots. I did that this month with the March Frugal Fab Kit. I don't do nearly the amount of layouts I used to do but it was really nice to return to my roots.

I dug into some of my pictures and found this picture of a family ski trip. The colors were perfect for this kit.

And a few more details...

My second layout is of our dear friends. They are my sons second family and for Christmas this past year I did a photo shoot with the all the "men" in the family.

The colors in this kit are perfect for Spring.

Melanie Jarocki: March 2012 Kit Projects

Hello! Happy April 8th! And for those of you celebrating Easter today:

 I used the March Frugal FAB kit to make this card.

And, because April and 8th sounded so good together, that was the day DH and I decided to get married 17 years ago. LOL Here is the card I made for him, again with the March Frugal FAB kit and some rub ons from the main kit:

It's always fun to celebrate holidays and special events in our lives, but don't forget to celebrate the everyday things as well. This layout is about how our family decided to go for a walk to get donuts one morning for breakfast. It had been very rainy for several weeks, and we finally had a clear (albeit cold) morning to get outside.

 I used the March Main kit, along with some of Christy's new SheArt rub ons and paper pieces.

March Kit Projects: Dena Hamlin

Some times the best things are worth the wait. The March Kits being one of them! Filled to the brim with some crazy gorgeous goodness, namely Christy's new line with Pink Paislee (looooved it!!!!) you could still smell the ink drying on the paper :)

I couldn't resist digging into that line first. Having taken Christy's She Art Class last year, I felt the need to create my own She Art girl with her new line. I got some help with the textures by using some of Christy's new stamps with Unity 

and her new vintage doily mask: 

and came up with this She Art Girl:

Now typically the SheArt girls are created on canvases, but guess what...I couldn't find my canvases and here was the handy piece of cardboard laying in the garage...sooooo I just went with it and used what I had. I ended up really having fun working and utilizing the texture of the cardboard and hello, its FREE! This was such a fun project to work on and I let me daughter help along too. She is anxious to make her own She Art doll!

Remember how we talked about numbers last month? Well here is my project featuring numbers!

The number I ended up focusing on is 34....what I am going to be on my next birthday....YIKES! I remember when 34 sounded ancient, like you would have one foot in the grave, ancient...I was inspired by the Pink Paislee measuring tape ribbon (ADORABLE!) and the first number that popped out to me was 34, and it immediately struck a chord with me. I repeated the number up above by using the Pink Paislee stickers and then added more numbers in the form of the year. Had I been thinking and had a bit more time, I think I would have liked to mask 34 somewhere on the layout with some paints...but alas...coulda, shoulda, woulda.
