Tree Canvas Using the Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit

Yes, it is that time again...Time to get your hands messy! Making canvases is one of my new favorite things to do. It makes me feel like an artist each time I create one. It also lets me indulge myself in my love of bright and vivid color. I used the  Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit with Christy's new She Art Line by Pink Paislee.

 This canvas is was a ton of fun and it amazes my how I can actually create an image from just a few hand cut triangles. My trees were perfectly frames by the Silver Rhinestones Nestabling Pennants from Want2Scrap. What a fun and different way to use them.

The Kaiser Craft Rub-ons and Faber-Castell India Ink Pens are perfect to add some fun details.

Now for one more way to use this kit...how about an ATC?

I hope you are inspired to dig in and get you fingers messy too. It is really very freeing to create and not worry about making mistakes.  In the mixed media world mistakes tend to make the best art!

Lori Jolley: sunshine canvas

I hope you are seeing more spring than we are! We've had snow, rain, clouds, wind and just barely enough sunshine to make me ache for warm weather! And that is what inspired my canvas this month from the March Mixed Media kit with Christy's fun papers! 

Every year I can barely wait for warm weather and SUNSHINE after the long, dreary winter so I made a canvas that is happy and warm and full of promise of the coming spring. It says, "Bring back the golden sunshine."

Savitri: March Numbers

Hi again!!! Sorry for the late posting but I just came back from vacation (I saw Queen Elizabeth II too!!) and family just left after two weeks of visiting us here in Jolly Good England :)

Over the weekend I got a chance to do a bit of scrapbooking and with the "numbers" theme in mind, I created this two layouts using March's (awesome) Frugal Fab kit. Besides the goodies from the kit, I used Tim Holtz orange spray which I think adds a bit of fun to the layout.

Just an FYI, my oldest is in love with crepe. Everytime we see a crepe booth she'd ask for one.

This next page is of the youngest who LOVES to pick up sticks. We go for a walk often and every time she'd find a stick and would be carrying it around, and hitting whatever along the way with it, until something better comes along. Oh, she walks around with her bunny too. Bunny on one arm and stick on the other hand.

Again I used the Frugal Fab kit for this page. For a little bit of fun, I used Christy's new stamp, Distressed Criss-Cross, right under the photo. I used a very bright yellow ink pad to make the pattern stand out. Love it!!

Mimi Leinbach: March Simple Layouts...Back to my Roots

I love that I am trying new things creatively...slowly making my way in the world of mixed media. Digging in and getting messy but every now and again you need to visit your roots. I did that this month with the March Frugal Fab Kit. I don't do nearly the amount of layouts I used to do but it was really nice to return to my roots.

I dug into some of my pictures and found this picture of a family ski trip. The colors were perfect for this kit.

And a few more details...

My second layout is of our dear friends. They are my sons second family and for Christmas this past year I did a photo shoot with the all the "men" in the family.

The colors in this kit are perfect for Spring.

Melanie Jarocki: March 2012 Kit Projects

Hello! Happy April 8th! And for those of you celebrating Easter today:

 I used the March Frugal FAB kit to make this card.

And, because April and 8th sounded so good together, that was the day DH and I decided to get married 17 years ago. LOL Here is the card I made for him, again with the March Frugal FAB kit and some rub ons from the main kit:

It's always fun to celebrate holidays and special events in our lives, but don't forget to celebrate the everyday things as well. This layout is about how our family decided to go for a walk to get donuts one morning for breakfast. It had been very rainy for several weeks, and we finally had a clear (albeit cold) morning to get outside.

 I used the March Main kit, along with some of Christy's new SheArt rub ons and paper pieces.

Wild Abandonment

Hi there! 

I'm popping in here with some praise for Christy and her workshops and classes. They are amazing and so fun! I have loved them all! Christy's She Art girls are adorable and her color workshop and Three hearts class were great, too, but my favorite so far is definitely the Art of Wild Abandonment with Junelle Jacobsen.

Junelle teaches the "wild art" classes and Christy does her own series of videos on Wednesdays with her take on the class and projects. Junelle is the sweetest person - you really feel like you are there with her as she teaches. She is funny and real and so encouraging. I have loved "meeting" her through the workshop! 

I am not an artist. I took an art class a long, long time ago in high school, but I haven't drawn or sketched since then. I can't even doodle and I have never used watercolors since I was a child so I am a complete beginner in this area.   BUT. . .

here is my very first project from the class. Drawing radishes!!

Crazy fun! And honestly - if I can do this - anyone can. I love that we jump right in and forget the "rules" and we use the simplest tools - paper and a mechanical pen and a big eraser. Then we learn how to use watercolor and so on. 

This is another idea from the class. Simple owls.

See - I am not an artist.  My youngest children can draw better than this and I may not get much better. I doubt if I'll ever completely "WOW" anyone with my art - but I can already tell that I really like this way of expressing myself and I want to learn more. Isn't it wonderful when we find a  medium that allows us to grow and fulfills our need be creative and expressive and that is satisfying to us! So I'm encouraging you to try new things - art or gardening or photography or whatever interests you - and try it!

Or rediscover it!

Or reinvent it!

And remember - we all have to start somewhere and the bottom is as good as anywhere! ;)

Savitri: March Numbers

I love numbers! Even though I'm no math whizz, I love math and have always had a soft spot for anything that's number related.

I don't do a lot of math anymore. The most math that I do is figuring out what 60% off a dress is or if my £6 can buy Emma the fish and chips she watned. Exciting, right? But I still use numbers a lot. Mostly up to three though.

I have this 2.5-yrs-old you know and she likes to test me. So on a day-to-day basis I would do the one.... two.... come over here now before I get to three... two and a half... and before I get to three Jovie would come. 

Sometimes though she would get stubborn. The photo above is a good example. I wanted to take a photo of her, something cute, but she refused. I asked her to be happy, to be playful, to smile, but nothing. 

This month's theme of numbers was just the perfect inspiration to scrapbook (creataed using Scarlet Lime's February Frugal Fab kit) this cute photo of my youngest. She's the stubborn one but she's still too too cute ! 

I hope you have fun with this month's theme! Numbers are everywhere and we definitely use them every single day!

Lori Jolley: February projects and March numbers

There are so many ways to share the things we love. We can take photos of moments and family and document them like I did in this layout of my son enjoying the sunshine and warmth of summer. We will love looking at them and remembering again and again.

I kept it simple since I want the photos to shine. The February frugal fab kit was full of fun things that reminded me of summer - vivid greens and yellows and reds and fun beach-themed ATC cards and bright buttons. I decorated one of the buttons with parts of the alphabet stickers in the kit to make a smiley face in the top corner and I used some of the Pink Paislee bling stickers to look like water droplets.

I love to give handmade gifts whenever I can. Since spring is coming and there are always several weddings and bridal showers that will be coming up, I made some simple recipe cards to give to new brides. I know I appreciated some of the recipes I received when I was first married. It was nice to have some recipes I knew were tasty and that my new husband liked.

If I have some of these cards on hand, it is so simple to add some kitchen towels and an apron for a personal and fun gift.

And since I love surprises and surprising people and  I love gifts in pretty packaging, I'm sharing another of my loves a friend - peach jam - tied with lace from the February frugal fab kit and dressed up with tags and paper from the February main kit. 

And I think I've found a new love! The little gift bag made with pretty paper and the pinwheel sticker would be perfect filled with cookies or candy or scones. I love it! Wouldn't it be so fun to give or receive a goodie in one of those?! 

And as we jump into March, we will be thinking about numbers. We use numbers in so many ways during each day without even thinking about it or realizing it! We make lists (at least I do), we have to wake up and go to work or take children to practice at a certain time, , we have to watch the number on the speedometer when we drive, we measure ingredients to bake or buy a certain number of items at the store, we have time limits or we try to beat a certain time, we say or do things a certain number of times in a day or a week, we count down the days to holidays and on and on. 

Numbers are everywhere in our lives and it will be fun to see how our numbers add up this month for the design team.

Savitri LOVES the February Kits!!

All the waiting was completely worth it! The February kits are FAB FAB FAB!!! Not only are they gorgeous but they were packed with so much stuff!!! That's one big thing that I've always loved about Scarlet Lime's kits, they're always full of goodness, not just paper (although I will not refuse any pretty paper ;)).

Today I have two pages to share with you.

The above was created using the main kit. My oldest, Emma (or M), turned eight early in February and she decided on a shopping party. Basically what we did was invited two of her best friends, gave them each an allowance, drove them to the shopping centre and let them go to whatever favourite shop to spend their money. The girls had a blast and I did too. 

Coincidently one of the page has all sorts of numbers on it and I thought it'd be fun to cut them up and adhered them in different parts of the page. I LOVE how this page turned out. It's really playful while still a pretty simple page. 

This one above was created using the Frugal Fab kit. Seriously, if you are on a tight budget but love to papercraft, this kit is perfect for you. The FF kits are ALWAYS full of goodness and they all have been really fun and versatile. 

Now, do you see the piece of paper behind the photograph on the left? That's the cover for a roll-on stamp that came with the kit. I hate throwing things that can be re-used and so I used it on my page. It worked out awesome I think {::SMILES}.

Mimi Leinbach: Love Using the Main Kit!

Our month of love is wearing down, but at least we have an extra day this leap year! Just because this month is almost over doesn't mean we can't talk about those things we love everyday. I LOVE the Main Kit this month. It is not my typical color pallet that I usually work with but maybe that is why I enjoyed it so much!

One of my new loves, art journaling...

One of the reasons I am loving my art journal so much is the freedom it allows. I use products I would never use on layouts or cards...modeling paste and fun stamps.

I also can not seem to get enough of the Crafters Workshop Stencils.

If you don't have one the Scarlet Lime Pen it is a must have. I find myself using it on EVERYTHING!

Since we are talking about love, it is one of those things we should share with those we love each day...so my kiddo's will each be getting one of these...just because!

I actually made this cute little box, using the packaging from Scarlet Lime Bead Art. I love the watches and the cute little boxes they come in a ton!
