Tree Canvas Using the Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit

Yes, it is that time again...Time to get your hands messy! Making canvases is one of my new favorite things to do. It makes me feel like an artist each time I create one. It also lets me indulge myself in my love of bright and vivid color. I used the  Scarlet Lime Mixed Media Kit with Christy's new She Art Line by Pink Paislee.

 This canvas is was a ton of fun and it amazes my how I can actually create an image from just a few hand cut triangles. My trees were perfectly frames by the Silver Rhinestones Nestabling Pennants from Want2Scrap. What a fun and different way to use them.

The Kaiser Craft Rub-ons and Faber-Castell India Ink Pens are perfect to add some fun details.

Now for one more way to use this kit...how about an ATC?

I hope you are inspired to dig in and get you fingers messy too. It is really very freeing to create and not worry about making mistakes.  In the mixed media world mistakes tend to make the best art!

Mimi Leinbach: March Simple Layouts...Back to my Roots

I love that I am trying new things creatively...slowly making my way in the world of mixed media. Digging in and getting messy but every now and again you need to visit your roots. I did that this month with the March Frugal Fab Kit. I don't do nearly the amount of layouts I used to do but it was really nice to return to my roots.

I dug into some of my pictures and found this picture of a family ski trip. The colors were perfect for this kit.

My second layout is of our dear friends. They are my sons second family and for Christmas this past year I did a photo shoot with the all the "men" in the family.

The colors in this kit are perfect for Spring.

Mimi Leinbach: Love Using the Main Kit!

Our month of love is wearing down, but at least we have an extra day this leap year! Just because this month is almost over doesn't mean we can't talk about those things we love everyday. I LOVE the Main Kit this month. It is not my typical color pallet that I usually work with but maybe that is why I enjoyed it so much!

One of my new loves, art journaling...

One of the reasons I am loving my art journal so much is the freedom it allows. I use products I would never use on layouts or cards...modeling paste and fun stamps.

I also can not seem to get enough of the Crafters Workshop Stencils.

If you don't have one the Scarlet Lime Pen it is a must have. I find myself using it on EVERYTHING!

Since we are talking about love, it is one of those things we should share with those we love each day...so my kiddo's will each be getting one of these...just because!

I actually made this cute little box, using the packaging from Scarlet Lime Bead Art. I love the watches and the cute little boxes they come in a ton!

 

Things I Love: Mimi Leinbach

It is February, the month of love! So this month the design team is sharing with you some of our "loves"!

Of course my true love is my family...Last Thanksgiving Day we ran a 5K together as a family! What a great time!

I love the beach...it just makes me happy! I took this photo on the beach at the Grand Floridian...my favorite resort. Every time we go to Disney this is where we stay...another LOVE!

I love Scrapbooking...this is where I create...

I love being a Soccer Mom...cheering my kids on during their activities brings me great pride. I love that I know their friends and have made the best of friends for myself through their sports and academic clubs!

My girl Lucy passed recently but I could not do a "love" list without including her...

And lastly what self respecting soccer mom doesn't love David Beckham...LOL!

Mimi Leinbach: What's my style?

When I heard the challenge for this month, to name our style I went into a bit of panic mode. What is my style, hmmmm...I  have a hard time saying I have a particular style. If you asked me this question 2 years ago, my answer would have been very different so this is what I narrowed it down to. Evolving!  I sometimes create in a very simplistic and linear style.

I love color, the bolder and brighter the better! I have to say that in my mind, to much color is never enough.

My style has really changed quite a bit in the last year...I think we can blame Christy and the Mixed Media Store for that. She has inspired me to do things that I NEVER would have tried because I would have been scared to make a mistake. Now I know that a mistake may be just what a projects needs to make it special!

I started my first art journal...oh, how fun! I never was one to use many stamps. I always felt an image had to be just perfect for it to be right, boy was I wrong...there is not a single perfectly stamped image on these pages and I love it anyway. I have to say it is very freeing to feel that way when I create.

I even did my first canvas this year, so my art is sometimes off the page now! I made this canvas for one of my nieces. I must say they are very happy I ventured further into the mixed media world! They reap the rewards of getting my fingers dirty.

So what I know about my style is that it is what it is today...and may very well be something else tomorrow. And I just love that!

Looking Forward: Mimi Leinbach

These beautiful kits and all the goodies from the Mixed Media Shop certainly put me in the holiday spirit. The December Main Kit has me digging into these gorgeous papers and I scrapped my favorite picture of the holiday season so far. I took this photo at Longwood Gardens and just loved it. The sun shining into the conservatory hit the tree perfectly for a gorgeous photo.

I also had to make a card...I mean it is the Christmas season...

The December Frugal Fab Kit is just fun! I used a picture of my guys...my sunshine...in this layout. I also used some goodies from the store like Liquitex Inks and Distressed Ink Pads. Lets not forget the Crafters Workshop Templates or the Faber-Castell India Ink Pens. They work perfectly with these kits.

I  made this tag...I think this just may go on a gift this holiday season...

Don't you just love that Unity Stamp? All these things really have me looking forward to the holiday and the new year! I hope you feel the same way!

Looking Forward to 2012: Mimi Leinbach

The new year is almost upon us and I must say I am ready to move on. Time to look forward to the future and put the past behind us. This year I am ready to move forward and do that.



It has been a tough year. I lost one of my sisters to breast cancer this year. My family has been touched by this disease way too much. Both my mom and my mother-in-law are survivors but the loss has put life in persepctive. It brought my family closer and we even recently had a family reunion. It is nice that something so sad had brought us close again.

My mom has retired to Florida. It is a little sad the we will no longer be able to hop in the car and run down for an afternoon of horseback riding. The nice part is we can look forward to wonderful visits with her. We spent a week with her this summer and it was a great time. My boys are now calling her Mom-Mom with the manatee's instead of Mom-Mom with the horses and she loves that.

So for me this year is about moving forward, enjoying all life has to offer. 2012 is full of promise and I am going to make the most of it!

 

 

Mimi Leinbach: Favorite Holiday Traditions Projects

Hi all! Novembers kits this month were so much fun to work with. Let's start things off with the Frugal Fab kit! I used this to create my favorite holiday traditions project...Cookie Day!

Mimi Leinbach: Favorite Holiday Traditions

There are so many things I love about the holidays. The time I get to spend with friends and family, the holiday festivities, food of course...but one of my and my families favorite traditions is COOKIE DAY!

Growing up my mom was a great cook but not much of a baker. When I married into the Leinbach family I discovered Cookie Day. Every holiday the entire family and often times friends gather for a day to bake up hundreds of cookies. Everyone has a favorite on the list and the day is not a success unless we are all in some sugar induced state...especially the kids! I have now been doing this for almost 18 years as part of my husbands family and I love that my kids now love this as much as I do. 

Mimi Leinbach: Inspiration Projects

This kits this month are gorgeous but I also added some fun stuff from the mixed media store which are so dang fun you have to add these to you stash.

With the frugal kit this month I create this layout of my boys on a trip to Universal Studios. We had such a fun day. I added some fun stamps and Claudine Hellmuth Paints which are my new favorite product.

This layout was based on this photo which totally inspired me.

Next I decided that I wanted to create a few new pages in my art journal based on this photo and Christy's amazing mixed media classes.

My love of the beach, all things tropical and these fantastic colors helped me create these pages...

I also tried a new product to me this month. These Faber-Castell Gelatos make such fantastic colors as you can see in this photo, draw a little on add a touch of water on a paintbrush and gorgeous water color designs appear...just like magic!
